Big Dreams are Stupid...fuck, I got a question.
what's you guys' take on wanting to do like a shit ton of stuff rather than one.
for example, i like rap and writing and shit but I want to do so much more.
I'm litterally into all of this: producing, filimmaking, photography, drawing, authoring, acting and all that. I have yet to experience some so I'm hoping with experience Ill drop out of a couple but still...whats your guys take on that? Do you think its stupid to be into so much shit? Do you think its better to just focus on one thing and execute that? Do you think you should start out with one thing, elevate and than expand to a wider range of things? Or just not be into that much at all?
Some artist are successfully pursuing like all the things I listed and I want to too. I'm like on the brink of fully commiting myself to some of this shit, I'm like enrolling in classes for them and everything.
EXCEPT. music stuff. I'll have to do that on my own cause I honestly can't do shit with actual instruments. Be honest. I can beatbox like pretty good. But cant play any instruments, should I drop any hopes of producing on that basis? Or do you think someone can develop producing overtime without having a good background in music?
And if so, what equipment should i get thats good for producing but cheap? HELP ME DOOE.
That is all.
If you read all this, i respect you as a human and appreciate feedback more than anything.

It's difficult to have a dream these days. I'm into writing rap (not quiet a rapper) and one day I'm hoping to create a kids cartoon show. Sure it's easy to get a regular 9-5 but if dreams were easy to snatch... Everyone would be dollar poppin.. And McDonalds would have no employees.

Well, you have to be a absolute prodigy. A reincarnation of God. That sort of person.
Look at people like Woody Allen, Tom Waits, Richard Pryor etc.
Have directed, acted, composed, written, performed... Sometimes it's not even about passion, Woody Allen was pessimistic and cynical through and through, it's just because they're that person.
If you're excellent at one trade, then stick to it and excel. A lot of people that think they can do everything are usually deluded hypomanic sociapaths. You're better off if you think you can't do anything.
They say you can be a genius without having the faintest idea what you're doing.

Wordddd.
I like to dabble though.
Like I'm interested in learning it as much as I want to excel in it.
I'm not looking to be a Justin Bieber, but someone who has a job but makes a name for himself and gets some doe on the side from doing what he loves. You know?
Cause most likely my job will be some stupid shit like personal trainer or PE teacher; something that doesn't get you the money you need these days.

Here comes someone who probably knows fuck all about the man, other than the fact that he "married his stepdaughter", which isn't true at all.
Even if he was a paedophile, which he isn't, he's still a genius beyond every standard. His movies, his books, his stand-up comedy, his music. He's achieved more than most people could dream of achieving.
So tell me all about how you know everything about Woody Allen and why that puts you in a position to judge him as a person.

Yeah, that's exactly how I've envisioned things. Sticking to yourself is the most important thing, not letting yourself be exploited, recording and writing what you want to record and write.
I'd settle into a coffin knowing that I've at least got some published material that is all me, even if it didn't make a splash. Nick Drake wasn't famous until well after he died, his entire discography was re-published hundreds of times and he was labelled the best folk guitarist in history. Dude never played a single live show in his 27 year life (27 club, I know). I mean, getting just a little bit of satisfaction out of having a finished piece of work is enough, you know? Who gives a fuck about other people, fame is a bonus in my opinion.
Even if you are a P.E. teacher, it's still a chance to breed greatness. Best you could get out of that is have one of your pupils go on to be a massive quarterback and you can drink in bars and say "I taught that guy..."

I ramble a lot, but what I mean is that you should never focus on the fame and all the hallmark bullshit and what other people will think of you. Focus on yourself. We're born alone and we die alone, so you don't have to look into the hearts and minds of others to be happy.
But I'm sure if anyone does enough with their talent, they will definitely make a name for themselves.
