Overview

This is the debut music project from Huey Jazz. Huey is an acclaimed battler, rapper and producer. He handles the majority of his own production which gives his music a very distinctive sound.


Track By Track Review

1. All That I Know

Perhaps the perfect way to kick off this EP. The extremely catchy beat is matched with an equally catchy hook. The content is very personal and achieves exactly what it should: Introducing Huey Jazz. 9/10


2. Whatchu Thinkin (Ft Shon Hayes & Ari IQ)

Another really laid back beat, solid hook. Hueys verse command your attention, the guest appearances were good: Shon rode the beat masterfully, Ari was solid too. 8/10


3. Flexin (Ft Ari IQ)

In complete contrast to the last two tracks, this one had a heavy rock vibe that felt a bit out of place. Hueys agressive delivery was nicely done, the beat suited Ari a bit more and felt like Huey was the guest for him as opposed to the other way around. Third verse was standout. 7/10


4. Dont Want To Love Anymore

Back to laid back vibe of the first two tracks, beat was great! Felt like some Pac 96 type of beat. Lyrics kept your attention, but Huey knows when to let the beat breathe. Another great track here... 9/10


5. Old Schoolin

Exactly what the title says, the beat was very nostalgia which Huey rode perfectly, switching up the schemes with ease. Yet again the content was interesting. 8/10


6. Friends These Days

Three seconds into the beat, you know this is gonna be dope. Sounding Kanye/college dropout-esqe. Not sure if it was just like speakers but the audio quality felt a lil off compared to the previous tracks? Regardless the sampled hook was great, verses were fire. The standard of this EP is sky high. 8/10


7. The Sho

Another addicitively catchy beat! The verses was really dope, the hook a lil off the standard of the previous ones but still another solid track. Quotables here too. 7/10


8. Huey Jazz

Another one of those 'strictly bars' type of tracks but with a horrorcore vibe. You can notice the Eminem influence here, Really dope track. 8/10

Verdict:

What a great way to start your music catalogue! I'll start off with the very few critques i have of this EP. One minor concern i had was that maybe the tracklisting could of been better arranged. When looking at it as a whole project it seemed as though 'Dont Want To Love Anymore' was the more natural closer, with 'Huey Jazz' not being the kinda of track you'd normally use to close out a project. People should go away thing about Huey Jazz rather than a Eminem-esqe horrorcore track. Tracklisting aside i really didnt find too much wrong here at all. The limited number of features helped to keep the focus on you, the production was top notch and all the tracks have great replay value. Simply put this is a fantastic release that stands up to any mainstream EP.

thanks man, yea i'd be down to talk to your buddy and see whats up with any work. At the moment my plan is goin back to school and continuing to make music/master my craft while i get a degree. but hey, a record deal would be pretty nice too
