That's 1 group called Army Of The Pharaohs..Stop tryna make 2 separate incidents outta 1 thing...on a further note, how long you been "livin and breathin hip-hop" has nothing to do with how well versed you are on the genre or your knowledge of the game.
& since when was this shit all about "complexity"..Son I appreciate all aspects of the game. the complexity, the story telling, the emotional aspect, the street rap, the gangsta rap, the punchline shit, the humor shit, the horrorcore shit
I embrace all aspects of it. I'll listen to Nas one day and bump Rick Ross the next. I'll listen to Wu Tang one day and bump Dipset the next. I'm very well versed on Hip-Hop and when I label someone as being one of the greatest, it's because I've heard enough of their material versus alot of other rapper material to make that statement (i got the pac, em, nas, jay-z, biggie, az, rakim, wu tang, method man, talib kweli, papoose discographies) & so many more that I can't even name cuz I'll be diggin through my iTunes forever trying to get the point across that I was initially trying to make to you @Krhyme
you can't state an educated opinion without knowing the topic well. the topic being where AZ stands amongst top dogs. Me being the original poster of this thread because I've heard songs upon songs upon songs from many different artists so I can accurately reflect where someone stands amongst other rappers.

AZ has respect for BIG because he talks about being in a music video with BIG and smoking blunts with BIG
but you don't think AZ would put himself in that category? In one of his interviews he was listening to one of his jams and he said himself he was Top 5
"Don't stop til you paid or you knocked, or laid in a box, i'm the greatest since Pac" - AZ
AZ has some of the most witty lyricism you'll ever hear. From anyone. Ever. He has one of the smoothest flows, and a unique rhyme scheme that's pretty complex.
"No concerns for new beef, who's as nice as I'm / It's confirmed from few feet I'm still a sniper blind"
"I'm as vicious as the realest you know, only difference is consistence i'm considered a pro"
The dude has it all. His lines have substance, he has good transitions, multis, internal rhymes. I don't see what BIG has over him..If anything BIG has much better story telling skills and probably a way better freestyling ability. But not a lot of rappers are fuckin with AZ's pen game....
even Eminem pays homage to AZ
Real recognize real, and if ya'll dont fuck with AZ then its because you heard "Lifes A Bitch" and made your assumptions off that verse
The scary thing about AZ is that he's had 8-9 albums out and he only gets better with time.

Straight buggin if THIS dude isn't Top 5 or at least Top 10
Cmon son...I don't think ya'll are pickin up on his rhyme schemes...that might be what it be. I wasn't a big fan of AZ many years ago when I first heard of him..but after revisiting his shit...his pen game is impeccable

saying slick shit and making ZERO impact on the game means absolutely nothing.
BIG shut Brooklyn down with his funeral...he reached all kinds of people...his impact is still felt 15 years later after having dropped only two albums.
this HAS to mean more than those few quotes and youtube links...

See you don't even know the story behind AZ
AZ could've had mainstream success but he decided he was more comfortable making real music for the small amount of people that fucked with him. He didn't sell out like BIG did
Not only that.. AZ was never dropped from a label, he went independent
And still puts out quality shit for the ages, making a decent living. And that's all that matters. He's at peace with what he does and doesn't need all the flashy shit. He doesn't do beef, he doesn't do Hollywood. He drops albums where they'll be 1 or 2 features tops because he's not like everyone else that drops an album with like 5-10 features. That's how it used to be back in the day...you'd buy an Aaliyah album and you'd get Aaliyah. a few features here and there but what the fuck ever happened to buying an album to listen to 1 person, lol
His whole thing is "longevity"...See...you're not a New York cat...none of ya'll are, so I'll give you all passes...
I'm not either...but I go to NY alot, hell, I'm in NY 9 out of 24 hours of the day..so I meet all kinds of people..hip-hop enthusiasts, graffiti artists, ball players, etc etc...alot of them fuck with Nas and surprisingly, AZ too. Some listen to more AZ than I thought. the typical shit is for someone to be like "Oh yeah he dropped Life's A Bitch, or The Format" ...but nah, kids out in NY got their knowledge and respect for the greats
and that's how it should be. Before he was rappin he was actually out in the streets, crack cases, drugs..he beat a long bid..like this dude is really about it
he's not like most of these bums that say they're street and arent

Fuck outta here son. You don't know what you're talking about if you're gonna go with that. & Hey....Who can vouch that you were throwin that around since highschool? Nobody....so yeah, daddy says hello
& magazines, websites, and even other mainstream rappers acknowledge AZ as one of the greatest. It's not like someone's opinion from LB is gonna change that when its your word vs Eminem's. lmao.

Well the difference between me and you is, i listen to the music, you listen to the words... thats cool, watever ur into.
Eminem is a great lyricist but he's not that musical in my opinion. Em needed someone like proof or dre to add some funk/soul to his music and point his talents in the right direction. Look at what happened when they weren't around anymore.
but anyway it doesnt really matter, its all relative to what you vibe to. So you vibe to AZ. that tells me you're an intelligent dude but you're not very musical/don't have much rhythm. to each his own
