Tunji might be the best rapper you never heard of.
As far as substance, flow, lyrics, everything...not many are fuckin with him. But I dunno, ya'll prefer corny ass punchline shit.. Don't fuck with that real shit.. My favorite lyrics from his verse in this song:
"Fist in the sky. Young, black, gifted, and wise"
"Still searchin for the truth in the midst of a lie"
"This track reminds me of my grandmother's whisper goodbye"
"Knowing it'd be the last time I'd glimpse her alive"
..."On this, road to zion. A black cobra python. I - hold the mic strong, in my frozen right palm, my sober nights gone, I compose & write songs. Early in my journey but the path I chose is life long"
"Longing to touch, what's rightfully belonging to us. Cuz there's a million other rappers who dont want it as much"
I mean, this dude has absolutely 0 filler. He doesn't need to throw in rhymes simply cuz they rhyme with whatever line is next. Incredible substance, incredibly gifted pen game.

I'm impressed by people that care about the music they put out. There's not a lot of people that actually put thought into everything they say to make it meaningful. The few that do are called LYRICISTS...which brings me to my next question
are you a lyricist Spooky Deep?

look.. theres nothin wrong wit punchline shit. hip hop wasnt made soley for "deep" shit. you dont have to ALWAYS rhyme about how hard this is or how depressing this is or how the goverment is this and etc. theres nothing wrong wit songs you can party too or song that just has a cypher'ish feel to it wit a iLL beat and some dudes spittin bars on it. stop calling everyone else idiots becuz they dont agree wit you. and didnt you make a thread awhile ago claiming you enjoyed Rick Ross's shit and others like him to some extent??

I gotta agree, this is a dope song and he is a SICK lyricist. I also agree with Prose_ i think it's personal taste, punchline rap is okay not to my taste but others like it, party hip hop is dope also i like shit. But this is my favourite type of hip hop music.

Rick Ross can rap. I appreciate all kinds of music. I don't knock dudes like Drake for doing what they do..But dudes like Rick Ross & Drake are in a position of power in the sense that they influence the youth and the next generation..If you have a voice that reaches thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of people..shouldn't you use it responsibly? If you can make someone's life better through music that's a beautiful thing. If you can educate, motivate, and inspire through music..it's a beautiful thing.
All I'm saying is that I appreciate that real shit more. This is a BATTLE website so that punchline shit is prominent here. I'ma keep dropping punchlines as long as I battle, as will you. But maybe when your mind matures and you're ready for grown folk music you'll understand.
Because one day, god-willing, you'll have kids of your own. & They're gonna wanna be like whoever's hot at the moment. Whoever's on the radio the most, whoever's tellin em about partyin, the bitches, the money, the cars.. Or whatever it is kids are gonna be into 10, 20 years down the road. & You're gonna think your kids are ridiculous for looking up to them, but you'll hope its just a phase they're going through because you went through a similar phase when you were younger and (hopefully) your mind has matured enough at that point to understand that the music people are puttin out is poison.. That murder murder murder, kill kill kill shit..That "make it rain on these ho's" type of shit.
I just prefer that real rap shit. In the late 80's and early 90's you had people like Black Thought, Poor Righteous Teachers, Rakim, etc etc...Using their voice to reach others & teach others. That's how it was back in the day.. You had to be authentic..not whatever was marketable to the youth. You were being you, you were expressing yourself and sharing your experiences and life struggles with people, you were trying to help.
But it seems like there's very few artists today that had those core teachings instilled in them & stayed true to them.

What's gayer than asking someone if they're a lyricist is memorizing how their old username was spelt down to which letters were capitalized and which were lower case.
Impressive. I'll share my life story with you some other time if you admire me that much
