Shoutout to LB
Yes, while this site may be way less populated than it was say in 2009/2010/2011 , we also have way better battlers now than our previous caveman counterparts. Anyone who thinks otherwise is blinded by nostalgia and ignoring all these old heads coming back and getting bodied.
I mean it isn't their fault particularly, they were the best of their era and they should be remembered and recognized for that. But you few dumb people who think they can just come in rusty as fuck and beat someone half-decent in this era are dumb.
If you are at least middleweight in 2017/2018, I am confident on your average day you will body any of these old GC's and Hall of Famers. (Except Askari).

I'd agree. Firstly, almost everyone who comes back is CRAZY rusty. Also, a lot of them didn't develop aspects of their game. Some of them are different though. You can't write shit off just cause it happened a while ago. I mean Prob legit wasn't battling for a decade and beat Nick, who's a higher heavyweight.

Actually if you reread the Prob vs Nicholas battle Nick had the better verse. All of Prob's verse was self-hype, not directed at Nick, or punch-less.
Including tons of self-hype in your verse and not directly attacking your opponent has always been a hard no-no. Not sure why Prob got a pass.
I admit that I'm Rusty, but your DELUSIONS OF SCORING WINS still AMUSING AT QUARTER STRENGTH/ I'll put this DUDE IN A COFFIN STIFF looking like he's SUITED FOR COURT AND SHIT/ Like I'm supposed to believe you're this RUTHLESS AUTHORITIVE figure, who speands his spare time GOOGLING ORONYMS!
Look how many lines he took up with these bars, and it's not even a punchline. its just statements and multis.

I didnt read the battle, but completely agree on this aspect. ZERO of a battle should be self hype imo. That's A LOT.
Reefer is fucking abysmal. He's not even close.

I agree with u here 100%. Especially coming from shortbar sites, I find the amount of filler here incredible at times

When they come back and get bodied by the newer cats, how much of that is a reflection of their era skill-wise and how much of it is a reflection of being simply rusty? The vast majority of us would get bodied if we haven't been doing this for a while and decided to drop one, no matter what skill level we have now.

I hadn't battled in 2 years and beat MC-KG on RULE's card easily who is apparently a middleweight now. Even if you are rusty when you come back you shouldn't be losing to people way beneath your skill level. It's like riding a bike. When you come back from your break.. you still know how to do multis, structure a verse, come up with punchlines, etc.
RULE also didn't battle for years and came back and won a GC vs lockhart in the finals.

There's a difference between how long RULE didn't battle and some cats.
I don't think it's just a time thing with losing your touch, when it's gone it's gone. I've struggled to write anything as far back as 2012. The last non-trash battle I had was long, long time ago. A decent number of battles I've had since 2010 are either throwaway bars from before then, or just garbage I dumped out since I agreed to battle people and couldn't think of anything not trash.
Try writing under 5 battles a year for about nine years and see how your bike theory works out.
I'm not really sure that the bike thing works either. I haven't rode a bike since I was probably like 13 and I'm not sure i could do it now.

When they stop losing to middleweights, and their battles against middleweights aren't close. Can't really go by titles anymore, Rant is a GC but is a middleweight.
