Vaccinations...
There's been a wave of anti-vaccination in recent years. Many people believe they are dangerous while governments try to make them mandatory. What's your position on vaccinations? Would you have your kids vaccinated?

Research has shown they are overwhelmingly not dangerous, the only danger may be an allergic reaction..

Simply playing the devil's advocate here...they have also been linked to autism, according to the anti-vaxers.

The study that anti-vaxxers tend to quote in this case has been widely refuted, and shown to be untrue.

"according to the anti-vaxers" is the keyword.
Anyway, I'm not a scientist or biologist or knowledgeable/an expert in any other field relevant to this discussion, save perhaps for browsing whale.to for a laugh when I'm bored. However, the anti-vaxer arguments I see tend to fit in to one or both of the following groups:
1. "Vaccines are un-natural; avoiding vaccines is good, because it allows the immune system to grow and develop naturally, making the child healther in the long run, and also more resistant to newer diseases."
This makes sense at first glance, but, in reality, it's roughly equivalent to stating that fighting wars keeps our military strong; therefore, we should endeavor to fight more wars than necessary without making any effort towards avoiding them.
While I don't know if this is actually true or not, I have read on some anti-vax sites that children without vaccinations are actually more resistant to diseases such as the common cold. While this may be true, honestly, who gives a shit? I'd rather catch a worse bout of the common cold more often than my unvaccinated peers than get polio or some other nasty shit.
If you want a "healthy, naturally boosted immune system," the proper way to do this isn't to keep yourself or your children from getting any vaccinations. It is much safer, probably more effective, and better for everyone involved to help it along simply by going outside, hanging around farm animals, etc. It is true that farm children are, indeed, healthier than other children. This does not mean you have a right to expose them to all sorts of painful, injurious, and potentially even lethal diseases. Basically the only reason that unvaccinated children aren't dying en masse is because there are enough children who have had vaccinations that the diseases that would otherwise be killing them aren't around much (at least in developed countries) these days.
2. "Vaccines don't actually work; they don't prevent diseases. Or their capabilities for doing so are exaggerated.
This is so blatantly self-refuting that I won't even bother with it. Seriously.
3. Vaccines contain microchips or mind-destroying/controlling agents, or some other nasty shit for nefarious purposes.
This one isn't very mainstream compared to the other arguments, though it does show up on a few fringe websites. It's an entirely different monster, and not an argument I'm going to delve into here. Let's just say that the evidence for these claims tends to be sketchy at best.
4. My religion (or other ideology) says I'm not allowed to get vaccines, or allow my children to get vaccines.
Fuck your religion, CPS should take your children away.
That's all I can think of at the moment, should be enough to cover the main arguments.

I know several people who have never gotten a vaccine and they're fine, I don't get the point of them.

never had one,
also if you got a shot>never had an illness (could be because you weren't even contacted with the virus to start)... might think it works for one thing but can cause a shitload of issues for another thing

That just means they never came into contact with whatever virus, etc. that the vaccine was for. And what do you mean you don't get the point of vaccines? The point is to get acquired immunity just incase you DO come in to contact with it.

They're older, mid 70's, 60's, etc. and they're perfectly fine. I reference their age to show they've lived life.
I get WHY you would get one as a preventative method but why would you increase your chances of getting a disease by getting that disease in a "small dose" (whatever that means) to prevent that same disease. I just don't get it. It'd be like swimming in a shallow end to not drown which you can still drown in if you can't swim. Except if you don't know how to swim you can learn, you have no control over your body's immune system, it's beyond your control. It'd be like playing russian roulette but the bullets are "really small" but you have no way of knowing that because someone else loaded the gun.
