Honestly, HipHop was originally very connected to Civil Rights, which makes freedoms equally available as intended by our country's Constitution…. check it out and learn something new today!

This neighborhood used to be at the height of Jazz in the U.S., but now struggles with shit tons of drug violence due to ever present heroine availability and turf confrontations.

Billie Holiday and Cab Calloway come from the neighborhood, as well as Civil Rights leaders like Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Mitchell.

The Wire was filmed and takes place not too far from the avenue as well… for all you Method Man fans/ Wire watchers.
