For the birds.
On the edge, 20 stories up...
facing dark, with a racing heart.
I felt the fire of life once...
but it turns out I was chasing sparks.
Once the pacing starts, fate remarks
"Take your mark"
So I brace and place my faith in gravity.
I've fallen from grace,
now I'm falling through space.
Prepared to embrace earth savagely...
...happily.
Yet half of me is trapped in me,
displeased of relegating.
Both halves of a man...
who'se last thought was birds...
then screams...
as scenes were devestating.
Dreams of elevating...
celebrating courtship with the cumulus.
Euphoria...
feeling consumed with this,
exhibiting my exuberance.
Shitting on pitiful nuisances,
who attempt to copy, but lack force.
Unaware my love affair with the air...
was courtesy care of a crash course.
By mother...
from nest I was cast forth,
a test of success or of sacrifice.
For the present tense...or the afterlife.
In heaven's sense,
fuck practice flights.
It's sail and fly, or fail and die.
Is this to be a boring story of gory grounds
...or a tale of skies to trail and glide?
I'm pale, and high.
I've been on trees... as long as I recall.
A catch a buzz from power lines, smelling like flowers, prime...
...as long as I don't fall.
And as long as I don't fall...
I'll stay my way, above the crowds.
If not I get a quick lift till' I'm in thick whisps that surround...
It's a game of doves, but the same it does...
I came to love the clouds.
Now I'm tangled up it sounds...
For the love of a hunger that hollows me.
Never left to rest or settle,
by a predator that follows me.
I'm not the type to roll for it...
to welter or to wallow see.
I hope to change your head...
thinking how hard can life for a swallow be?

Jims Crow*
I was a free spirit in my first life,
Unrehearsed flight across adverse skies now pale as the sclera’s on the eyes of white guys.
From the start they fed me crackers, crackers and more crackers,
If I see one more cracker,
I might conform into a cracker.
Lo’ behold the irony, the comedy,
Hello, my name was Polly.
My voice has no substance unless you pair-it with imagination,
Imagine a race for placement,
Imagine the blackest face with a cancer patient’s scalps foundation.
Lend me your voice so I can breath, I have nothing to share,
But im in want of nothing,
Nothing but air.
Closterfobic.
My detainment was premeditated,
As Jim walked his hair levitated.
In harmony with the wind,
Almost magic, almost classick,almost a non-conformist sin.
Almost free, almost jolly, without opposers or chains,
Almost me, almost polly, without a shoulder in the way.
Almost.
Confession,
Its always nice to have a shoulder to lean on, but Jims is my exception.
Disregard my dark complexion, Its my only flaw,
Just a crow, Jim’s crow, abiding by Jim’s law.
As we approached the diner, laughter followed behind chatter,
No matter the matter, this diner only served crackers.
No worm, no panther, no bird, just crackers.
*I’ll just wait outside for Jim to finish.
I beg of you not to ask why,
Aww FUCK IT!, the thought of indulging with another cracker makes my mouth dry!
Can’t think of an option to right this desert,
would drink from the fountain
but the water's sterile as my lifeless feathers.
I waited, and waited, one hundred feet from his placement,I waited.
Jim likes his coffee with half-&half.
My jurisdictions submissive to politicians inventive decisions,
relentless incisions non comprehensive yet convincing judicial vision pure as fiction but served as friction.
but where's the spark?
electrifying,
the spark, resides in Rosa Parks.
Martin Luther king has a dream,
a dream of freedom, a dream of skies,
but you have to crawl before you walk,
and flap before you fly.
Dream.
"I have a dream!" he shouted,
preach Martin!
My wings begin to flap,
I must join the attack.
Birds of a feather flock together.
For freedom we flocked, for abolishment we flocked.
"Free at last!"
Preach Martin!
My wings began to embark on its mission,
I can see Jim's head in the distance.
I begin to take flight across the nation,
Until,
"bang!bang!"
Jim shot me down,
Assassination.
*For those of you who arnt familiar with them, Jim Crow Laws were laws that seperated blacks and whites. Blacks couldnt use the same water fountains, schools, or even eat with whites.
