Battle of the week

something i came up with...

people post links in a thread for what they feel should be battle of the week. we select 3 or 4 tops and do a poll thread with blind polling. the week would run from Sunday to Friday at midnight. On Saturday voting starts. Sunday, we post the results of battle of the week. The two combatants receive an award for battle of the week (with repeat winners recieving '2 time battle of the week' and so on). At the end of the month, we go through the weekly winners and they select a battle of the month. the winner of that particular battle gets a month free exclusive.

i think this will give everyone a sense that they can have a good week or create a good battle and get some shine...

i dont see a downside to this....any thoughts?

we could actually end up with some fun 'battle of the year' stuff in December

i think if we put the onus on the users....its easy enough and will generate interest and buzz i all we do is sticky the poll after we sift through the nominees...couldnt be more than 20 or so battles and we can pretty much tell after a quick read if its hot

One thing is there'll be a FLOOD of battle's being posted and ppl thinking there battle was better than so n so's... thus creating a Huge load of battles for us all to read thru to determine which is the battle of the week... What day would the Cap on submissions be? as all week there'd be a flood of submissions from everybody... this is a nice idea alright, but would have to have a good system to it to make sure it works correctly & smoothly....

what if we make making the hotlist a qualification..that decreases the amount ...and people may try harder to make the hotlist

yeah good idea... Or how about have a whole seperat panel for Battle of the week?... Maybe it could work... but there does be a lot of fucking SHIT on the hotlist tho, but if this was doen right it would bring out the better battlers outta the wood work to retain the hotlist too... an maybe have awards for the diff spots on the hotlist on the battle of the week? so #1 would get one type of award, #2 an so on n so on.....

Also, wanna take this time to push forward the idea of a Private Battle Panel... as we all know the BEST battles are usually the ones that are sent private, an due to battlers taking time to get the shit done an posted, it doesn't make the recent's list.... so in this case, the pruvate battles would go straight onto this panel so it would cut the worry of being slept on/not being seen on the battle page....?? thoughts??

Good Idea. It will probably encourage lazy fucks to spend more time messaging for votes than it would encourage them to up their pen game. But we can't do much about that. Good idea.
