Props to both here. Saaxxx had the stronger punches and smoother flowing piece but in a simplistic style/approach. Mel was pushing the envelope of creativity, which is nice to see, though some wp's were questionable and some concepts weren't executed to their potential/kinda fell flat. Fairs in, folks.

First off a huge well done to both here. Both of these verses impressed me, Saaxxx I think you had some of the best scheming and flow I've seen from you here, on par with anyone on the site right now I reckon. Mel this is the best I've seen from you, super creative, great punch concepts, really great work.

Saaxxx I loved your opener, and the idiot box line was brilliantly simple yet original (as far as I know) and left me wishing I'd thought of it. The rest of your verse wasn't particularly hard-hitting or unique but was nicely executed and solid content. There were a few issues, especially the "BOTCHED UP SCHEMES FEEL" multi which (ironically) didn't seem to match any scheme and botched the scheme it was in the middle of. There were also a few redundant setups, so for instance "create that image with wax like waxing dummies" and "produce washed up material like washing machines" both repeat a main word in the setup and the flip, which is something to try work around to avoid. Otherwise a really nice verse here.

Mel, I loved your opener and thought it was on par with the best of what Saaxxx was bringing here. A combo of a complex & original concept with a clean execution. The rest of your verse either had advanced concepts or clean execution, but wasn't able to do both at the same time until the closer (which was dope). For instance, your music wordplay bar has some really clever ideas, but the wordplays aren't clean enough. "Glock and spill/glockenspiel" might possibly work in some accents, but for most people it just doesn't sound similar enough. "Hits him funny/hit symphony" does work phonetically if you consider each syllable separately, but the way people stress the syllables differs significantly so it doesn't work. When writing wordplays it isn't enough that someone can pronounce them the same, you need to make sure readers will pronounce them the same to make sure the line is clear even without expo. My policy with wordplay personally is to basically avoid it wherever possible and focus on double entendre setups (like your opener) because they're less affected by accents, stresses etc.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this battle, not just because of the quality of the bars but because I've seen both of you elevate to this point. I have Saaxxx taking this by a close but clear margin, 8-7

This was tough. Both came with it. The idiot box and crack to junkies bars was fire. And Mel the bound to lose and brass to blow it was fire too. I liked Mels flow better. Wit a lot of witty wordplay. Saxx was witty too. I got Mel edgin this tho. Yall need to do a round 2
