The History Of: The Letsbeef Awards The custom of having an end-of-year review and award ceremony is commonplace in almost all forms of competitive and creative pastimes, and Letsbeef.com is no different. In the early years of Letsbeef (2005 to 2008) these awards were never granted in an official fashion, and therefore finding definitive winners during this time period is extremely difficult. So the official tally's will begin from 2009, when a small but efficient awards ceremony was conducted. Official awards have been decided every year since then with the exception of 2016. The Format & Execution The awards are decided via a public forum poll, which is tallied up to reveal the winner of the particular categories. As the site and rap battling itself has evolved, so too have the categories that the site's members are polled upon. Meaning that no one year seems to have the exact same categories as another. EtH and RULE have the longest time period between first and latest awards (10 years, 2010-2020 and 2009-2019). Punk holds the longest streak of consecutive ceremonies receiving an award (7) from 2013 - 2020 as well as the biggest haul of awards in 1 year (8) in 2020. A Lets Beef Textcee Battle Of The Year: DeNiro B Milk Vs Jason Textcee Of The Year: Jason Crew Of The Year: Mah Fuckas Dope Member Of The Year: Jason Notes The 2009 awards were very small. Instead of making one list of all the categories for people to make there choices, the 2009 awards were done individually with one thread and poll being made per category. This led to there being a much smaller number of awards than the years that followed it. All of the awards were pretty clear cut. RULE won the actual Rookie Of The Year tournament so his award was no surprise. Jason dominated the year with two Grand Championships, along with a Topical Championship so his winning of the: Textcee Of The Year award was academic. With Jason being the foreman of the Mah Fuckas Dope crew which also boasted the talents of UNKNOWN ARTIST, its was no shock that the group would collect the Crew Of The Year distinction. |
