No Mr Felon. Rhyming is an element of the genre but it doesn't constitute the entire thing nor does the importance lie in rhyming otherwise Gucci Mane, Waka, French, & dudes of that sort wouldn't exist
For example; you can say a lot of dope shit as far as subject matter Mr. Felon. But since you can't rhyme for shit, you're not a great rapper.
& lol @
Jason saying Hip-Hop was created for the same purpose it has today. That's not true nor is it hipster shit. Blacks have always been oppressed and have always fought the system. Realize we're talking about the 1980's here. 'Officially' its over but prejudice and discrimination were still prevalent and unless you were a basketball player or a drug dealer you didn't have a way out. That's how they viewed it. Those were their options. I wouldn't expect a white kid from bumblefuck Canada to relate or understand any of that, because you've always had an advantage over hispanics and blacks due to your skin color alone whether you realize that or not
I'm not saying blacks couldn't do anything other than sports, drugs, and rap. I'm saying thats how THEY thought. So naturally they'll choose a way out based on their peers that found ways out doing 1 of the above.
Keep in mind I work in the Bronx daily and its the mecca of Hip-Hop. You'll find an OG on every other street corner droppin knowledge about some shit. Aint nobody tellin me shit about the origins of Hip-Hop or its purpose.
Money is just a way out for everyone. A lot of things were created for different reasons other than money and were monetized later.
& I said Wax was a better ARTIST than Eminem. That cannot be debated. He makes beats too, he plays instruments, he records his own shit, he puts his own shit out. That's artistry. Your reading comprehension skills are lacking @
Jason . Someone as insecure as you is always on the defensive about shit.... so eager to double-post to prove a point that nobody agrees with but not willing to do your due diligence and properly attack a valid point of mine.
