but also gotta consider the fact that youre still an accessory to the crime which is a big deal. in alot of situations that isnt provable so it isnt a big deal .. but sometimes it also is
like when youre not snitchin on your crackhead neighbor but they find the same coke hes selling on your dining room table ... youre goin down for a drug charge .. and the fact that you knew about his OP so you gotta be careful of that
sometimes good people are put in unfortunate circumstances

that accessory part is a REAL good point.
a quick story...
my ex girlfriend, before i met her, used to live across the hall from from a criminal. drugs, violence...whatever. he saw her see him beat a woman up, and she called the police. he was booked and charged. days later, a molotov cocktail gets thrown through my ex-girlfriend window...this is is 100% true shit...and believe it or not..it happens FREQUENTLY in bmore...in fact bmore is where the STOP SNITCHING campaign began.
that being said, i would hope that the fear of retaliation wouldnt deter me from letting my conscience guide me...but in alot of urban areas..there's an unspoken code to shit.
when i used to be on my porch smoking weed...if kids were outside playing..i would ash out. why? because if my fucking kids outside playing, you better ash out too. If you dont...i'm not calling the cops...i'll just let you know not to do that around my kids. if you dont listen..then it'd be ME that enforces it. it sounds barbaric and shit, but in alot of communities, people collectively police themselves.
