For me, it has nothing to do with the fact he does less drugs. I actually suspected he was probably doing more drugs since he's become rich and famous..especially looking at how he's physically changed. I'm not knocking anyone for liking Eminem, and if he's your favorite rapper of all time, I can understand why. I think he's one of the best lyrically in terms of using multi-syllables, and he's never lost that. My opinion is based on overall STYLE and personal preference regarding how his music has changed.
For example, listen to these two songs, one from the Slim Shady LP and one from a later album:

In the first vid, his voice was more normal and easier to relate to. The beat was more traditional---again, my personal preference. In the second song which is more representative of some of his latter songs, his voice becomes more nasal and monotone. He's still rhyming his ass off in terms of multi-syllables, but that nasal and, on top of that, yelling shit, I can't listen to for too long. He almost sounded like a caricature of his old self. On top of that, a lot of his beats started to incorporate more electric guitar type sounds to where he started sounding like some Kid Rock Hip Hop Heavy Metal to me. It's great and all, but it's just not my cup of tea. I can understand him switching things up and adapting, but there are so many other ways he could have accomplished that. Just compare his verse to Obie Trice in that second vid and you might have an idea what I mean.
