More girls aged 18-24 do you for blackberrys but there's nothing too solid to base marketing on within that demographic. Personally I'd say just gather information from as many people from as many people from as many walks of life as possible would be the best thing to do. Target markets when it comes to mobiles has recently been a LOT more difficult to pin point. Any app is probably going to be mass market thing. Aim it at everybody.. Maybe America is different.

People are always going to have phones, people are probably always going to use those phones to network, people are always going to have se sort of banter activity on said phone. Lizmans idea isn't too slow for the market, it's actually years a head. If he can keep up with what's popular in the market and have a solid social network base.. There's plenty of room for innovation when it comes to it.
I know a few people in America outside of college that have the Iphone, but colleges are definitely the demographic. Hipsters love apple. A lot of other people just get what's cheaper, that almost always being an Android.

The Blackberry is largely dead.
