Washed Up
I used to be somebody, I used to be seen as a role model,
Now I'm staring into old bottles, Drowning in my own sorrow,
I'm so washed up.
I used to be somebody, I used to be seen as one of the greats,
I didn't see anything stopping my reign, But these waves of power just got in my way,
I'm so washed up.
Power is a fickle thing, It only leads to greed,
I forgot about those closest to me in order to please my needs,
I had everything I ever wanted, But my success wasn't all it seemed to be,
Because now I look back at my accomplishments and I only read and weep.
The hunger grew and grew, I always wanted more,
But the hunger changed me and my family left, Yeah, I lost them all,
My friends soon followed suit, And then I thought I'd locked the door,
But then my wife packed her bags and went, That's when I really dropped the ball.
I was all alone with my riches, Nobody to confide in,
I'd scream at stack of bills to drown the horrifying silence,
Take a bunch of pills and start propping up my eye lids,
And stay conscious enough because I'd wanna hear the sirens,
Even with all the power I had, I was too weak to take my own life so I was laying in a hospital bed,
I'd wake up every morning, Praying to God I was dead,
I had the world at my feet, I was on top of it, Yet...
I wish I'd plummet back down to earth and drop to my death.
I used to be somebody, I used to be seen as one of the greats,
I didn't see anything stopping my reign, But these waves of power just got in my way,
I'm so washed up.
I used to be somebody, I used to be seen as a role model,
Now I'm staring into old bottles, Drowning in my own sorrow,
I'm so washed up.
