The term adult content is such for a reason. Because it isn't suitable for children. This is why albums have parental advisories. An age verification is no different than a parental advisory sticker. All you're doing is filling in a birthday. It's just an extra layer of, "Hey, this is ADULT CONTENT." So, even if you don't see porn being posted, or children being exposed to these types of posts as a problem, why not add that small layer of extra deterrence to help to avoid any unnecessary issues that can be avoided by it?
