I didn't know what the word "pedophile" meant in English, but I did know the meaning of "pedo" and "phile", so I worked out that a "pedophile" was a "child lover". Without understanding the implications, I thought it must be a good thing, and wondered why other people said pedophiles are bad.

Too bad I never referred to any sweet old ladies as "pedophiles"...
