Shit was cool. It still suffers from the same shit almost every other "Imma go hard with lyrics cus everybody is shallow and has nothing to say" approach lacks. Like using the same monotone pitch the entire verse, I dont think he used a vocal inflection even once. Multis & flow structure are adept, but it feels like an incomplete picture if you listen to this through any other filter than some slam poetry over-focusing/only focusing on content perspective.
This has less to do with Lowkey, but anyone else beginning to hate ideological rap crutches? So many people get on using the "I stray from draconian rap structure, my content is conscious & deep" stencil only to fall into its gravity well & become high horse riding faggots as if the ability to focus more on writing than sound is unheard of. Can't believe I'm actually leaning more on the side of pop culture rapping, but jesus christ its at least 100% less pretentious and doesn't take itself so seriously.
