So you're saying people are less inclined to vote against those they are familiar with and forum use helps familiarize people? I do agree that familiarity factors into people's biases, but not necessarily forum familiarity. LB has a certain format which people who have been here longer understand and utilize more, and sometimes newcomers coming from other sites might be at a disadvantage towards even if their verses are solid simply because some voters aren't familiar with their format. Things like capitalizing end rhymes, signifying wordplay/metaphors with quotations, even sometimes down to the style and bar structure. I experienced the same thing when I first came here and eventually adapted my style towards that. I don't think people are voting thinking "hey, I know that guy from the forums, so he gets my vote." I think it's more like "that guy's style/punch structure more so resembles the structure of people that are considered great on LB so he must be the winner." It's more about familiarity with style--and I'm not saying that's necessarily a good thing either.
