at the end of the day, if you want to get cut/ripped (bodybuild) or strong (powerlift) theres a couple factors outside of weightlifting that u have to consider. The first is motivation, the reason why u want to workout. If you have some lame ass excuse like "I wanna get more girls" you're not gonna last long in the gym. Women don't care how u look, so when u holla at some fine little tenderonie and she turns you down after u been throwin weights around for months your motivation is going out the window. Plus if girls wanted built guys wouldn't they be at the gym instead of the club? You want more girls then go to the club.
If u be real with yourself, choose a real reason like "I want more confidence" or "I want a get healthy" or "I don't wanna be a fat fuck no more" then you're more likely to stick with it, because if you do what you're supposed to when you workout you're gaurunteed to get results from all of those. Unless you can afford a personal trainer the only person who's going to keep you in the gym is yourself.
Second is eating healthy. All weight lifting does is breakdown muscle. The time outside the gym is what matters, because then you're rebuilding those muscles and keeping your body replenished and healthy, which prepares you for your next workout. That's where your energy comes from. You might think you're doing something when you lift but if you're not living a healthy lifestyle you aint doing shit. You just in there playin wit the weights.

& On a side note I've started lifting recently...as in the last 3 months recently
If anything I suggest you take a multi-vitamin if you don't already prior to working out...the timed release of certain enzymes and amino acids give your body what it needs during a workout
and of course protein...people think they can eat a piece of meat or a few pieces, or a tbsp of peanut butter and be good...nah...you need A LOT more protein than that to get muscle gain

^^^^ That is true....Bodybuilders focus on their body in general....while powerlifters focus on strength and gaining more muscle rather than just being big.
