ILLMANIA III - Classick At Rhymin Vs Dead Poet Society Vs Legion Of Doom Vs Turnbull AC's
The Beginning
As the summer of 2012 came to pass, discussions yet again arose as to which active crew was currently the premier one on the site. Classick At Rhymin had ressurected early in the year and returned to the heights they reached before their short split, and took many members of the now defunct Goon Squad crew. Dead Poet Society had bounced back from their ILLMANIA II defeat, with strong showings in the solo tournaments that had taken place throughout the year, claiming a number of champions. Legion Of Doom was a new crew formed just before the event, boasting many heavyweights, particulary from the audio side of the site (not to be confused with the LOD that competed in the first ILLMANIA). And Turnbull AC's was a elevation crew, whos array of new talent sought out the challenge that ILLMANIA competition brings. With four active crews the decision was made to make this the biggest and diverse ILLMANIA competition in history, leading to a massive battlecard.
The Aftermath
ILLMANIA III ended after a tiebreaker round, with Classick At Rhymin extending their unbeaten streak to a second event. The suprise of the competition came in the form of an under-achieving Dead Poet Society, who had entered in such great form but were hampered by internal issues and no-shows. Legion Of Doom proved to be the dark horses, forcing a tiebreaker round after tying with Classick in the original card. Turnbulls fought admirably but were overmatched for the most part. DPS disbanded not long after this event, while the other three remain active as of this writing.
