I've meditated several times and the truth is 90% of the people on here that have claimed to have meditated probably didn't even do it right. I like to turn off all my electronic shit and make it as silent as possible. As cliche as the shit sounds, you have to let go of everything and fill your mind with love. Think of everything beautiful in your life and in this world. That'll give you positive energy, to start.
Then start letting go of all of your thoughts after you feel euphoric/positive. Focus on your pineal gland, which we'll say is between both of your eyes..So focus on the bridge of your nose. Pretend that you're looking inwards. You need to be in this state for a little while, not 10-20 seconds.. Try to remain in that state for minutes. When you're done you'll feel a ton of clarity. Enlightened, even. & If you manage to have a lucid dream that night (a dream where you're aware you're dreaming and able to 'wish' things into existence in those dreams) that's pretty much all the assurance you need to know you did it right. You won't always lucid dream though.
sidenote; if you find it hard to let go of all your thoughts (our minds are constantly picking and grabbing at shit) focus on your breathing during your meditation and it'll help.
& If you want to learn about your chakras and chi check out this book "The Secret Teachings Of The Tao Te Ching".... It's a good read for some insight into the topic & some meditative/spiritual practices
