This country was founded on the basis of separation and freedom from church and state, even the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli (Signed by president John Adams & many founding fathers) states clearly that:

"the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion"

Though it is true some of the founding fathers were Christian (Most Diestic, though.) the country itself was made to SEPERATE church from state.
