Lyricism: who's to blame?
 

I caught this video for a show on Music Choice where they talk about the lost art of lyricism in mainstream hip-hop. Naughty by Nature's gonna be on it, and I heard Vinny blames NWA for starting a trend of watered-down lyrics, which is crazy to me to go after Dre and Cube like that. Most of my friends say the south killed everything that was good about hip-hop.

no artist killed anything. Lyrics are still in hip hop. just different aspects of them. if anyone is too blame it would be the mainstream audience. Thats what they want.

actually, if anything, nwa enhanced hip hop. and the south wuz like a new form of NWA. ludacris used to be sick nasty wit his lyrics, and TIP wuz a fukkin bomb ass rapper. not to mention lil flip, young jeezy, etc. the only person who really made the south look bad wuz gucci mane. and its not the audiences fault, its the radio. the radio dont play the real shit, dey just play the pop crap dat makes hip hop SEEM bad. hip hop aint dead, its just harder to find. ppl like lil wayne are just str8 crappy, but ludacris puts out the pop techno shit only for the radio and the rest of his album is crazy. we still got snoop, dre, and ice cube makin records. fukkin ice killed it on his song rep that west, dr dre is kinda fallen off, but snoop made lil wayne an example on his song protocal. its just harder to look for, dats all.

I find it ridiculous when people say that the south killed hip hop when the south produced artists like Andre 3000, Phonte from Little Brother, Jay Electronica, Ludacris, 9th Wonder. And by the way, hip hop never died. You can't kill a culture.

An Here's my Two Cents! I don't think Anyone was the cause for creating a wack Hip hop!
Everyone has there own unique style, an story to tell within a song! Neither the NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, OR WEST was the cause for Watered down lyrics! I think everyone developed scripts differently, an has there own voice to say what they want! The only part of Hip Hop I do not agree on is the FAKE ONE'S! That took NWA style of living the Thug Life like Tupac or Bigge, an making it into a money making scheme! They say they Kill People an Bang Guns, an in real life never have! GOOD EXAMPLE OF THAT IS "G~UNIT!" The FAKEST RAPPERS ALIVE!

I mean that's the only part of hip hop that I can't Agree on!

i blame mtv,white ppl, and soulja boy, didnt even have to watch the video for that one ez question........and btw while im at it why is everyone sayin souther rappers r killin the lyrical art in hip hop mainstream? Wayne is famous for lyricism in the mainstream and so is luda and not to mention chamillionaire(cold ass mufuka)...............the fuck is 50 doin? is that lyrical art to u? what about dre and snoop jeezy rick ross souljaboy(ehh) the fuck? the south has kept the mainstream goin the past decade u guys r crazy........open ur eyes
