Grand Championship Round Two Review!

The second round of the Grand Championship had some great battles. Only one no-show for the entire round was a massive bonus, and a final-worth clash between GRizzEAT & ILLoKWENT led a fantastic line up.

So lets now lets get into the best (and worst) of the Grand Championship round two!

GRizzEAT Vs ILLoKWENT

This battle was supposed to of happened a few months ago for the LBT Championship. these two guys were considered favourites for the Grand Championship, with this battle being citied as a probable final. On this occasion the LBT Champion was in lethal form, and won by a solid margin, to head into round three with a huge amount of momentum.

Dean Vs Manhattan

This was probably the closest fought battle of the tournament so far. Both brought there own signature styles and put on a great clash. For Dean to exit in the second round after posting a verse like this is a terrible shame, but Manhattan can go on content that regardless of what happens now, he's already had a classick.

AmBitiousFlow Vs AfterThought

This all-MM clash was a banger, with the two trading punches throughout. The end result was a close one, with Ambo exiting a tournament surprisingly early, and AfterThought threatening to fulfil his potential at long last.

Deja Bleu Vs Dissizit

Bleu put in a great effort against one of the tournaments favourites. Bleu's strong performance made this an intriguing battle, and Dissizit was lucky he respected his opponent and dropped heavy, because this close battle could of quite easily been the upset of the tournament.

Dysfunctional Vs Lockhart

Despite the one-sided percentage result, this battle was nonetheless a hard fought and quality clash of bars. Lockhart was able to keep his verse a level above his opponents throughout to claim another strong victory.

Agonize Vs Fidel Z

The form of both these battlers prior to this battle could not of been more different. Agonize who had been in a massive slump since winning his JOB Championship, had struggled for months to defeat a really strong foe, whilst Fidel Z has been over-performing for nearly half a year, racking up a 5-1 LBT record and running through everyone put infront of him. However in a battle you are only as good as the verse you post, and Agonize pulled a victory out of the bag to score the rounds only upset.

The biggest disappointment without doubt was the no-show of Subreal. Sub, considered the tournaments most likely dark-horse, came into the tourney with a huge amount of hype, and to crash out on a second round no-show was a terrible way for his momentum to halt. The only other disappointment of the round was due to another unfortunate GC tradition: The bad loser. With both Rohaan and ET the Refugee letting themselves down by blaming anything and everything, besides there bars, on there losses. Lets hope this is a tradition that ends with the next rounds results.

Illo, you just defeated one of the strongest tourney entrants in round two. What are your thoughts on the battle?

Im not gonna rule out anyone from that side because at any given battle one might prevail over the other. Due to rust or other circumstances.. At face value ask would be the obvious choice.but hes had a bye these last two rounds while the others been puttin in alot of work so rust may level the playing field to that extent..

None tbh but there was a few good ones. Lockhart bodying Dys was pretty cool. MAN DOWN's always a good read so his battle was pretty nice.. AND I'd like to let a few dudes know (Black Book/Dissizit) that they really need to step it up next round. They're really taking these contestants lightly which can hurt them.

Which third round battles are you checkin for from a readers standpoint?

VJ, what was the highlight of round two for you?

Anyone disappoint you with there performance this round?

Crysis was a disappoint. I was expecting a much closer battle than that but the margin of the percentage says it all. Rohaan was also a disappoint. I thought this match-up would of went down to the wire but BB did his thing."

Does anyone stand out as a likely champion to you after two rounds of action?

Illo will reach the finals easy... I think he is the favourite of winning it especially with those previous battles that he cruised through comfortably. Also Askari, he hasn't had much competition but he is a favourite for the championship. So yeah, that's my final prediction

Which round 3 battle are you looking forward to the most?

MD vs Illo. This battle is gonna be so close if they both come with their A game. Whoever wins this goes to the final as i see it, so this will be one battle i'll be looking at carefully. There's a few others like Diss vs Obey, but nothing beats the MD vs Illo battle this round

Finally, name your favourite battle of the tourney so far?

Rican vs GRizzEAT. Still disappointed in Rican slightly because i thought he could take this. But overall this was a good spar and an entertaining battle, two heavyweights hungry. They were both rusty for what they can produce but a part from that, I felt this was a favourite.

VJ, while he's left the tourney as an entrant, has still been following (and more importantly VOTING) on the battles. I think his view that Illo Vs Man Down will spawn one of the two finalists is a likely one, but time will tell as there are many battlers with the ability to change that.

Oskar, you were due to face the highly fancied Subreal, but he turned out to be the rounds only no-show. Were you disappointed?

Harsh but oddly true. I dont know if anyone has ever had more potential, but bigger disappointing performances on Letsbeef than Black Book. OSKAR is in a prime position to knock BB out, and start his own personal-best tournament run.

Rohaan. When the round closed you instantly changed your name to: I JUST GOT ROBBED. That speaks volumes alone but give me your detailed thoughts on the battle.
