Homo (gay slur) + phopia = Homophobia (essentially a gay slur within a word that denounces hatred toward gays)

Homo literally just means the same. It's a prefix. Homophone, homogeneous, etc. Homosexual isn't a gay slur, but for whatever reason shortening it to homo is. But homophobic just uses the prefix because "homosexualphobic" sounds weird.

The "homo" prefix is used to describe the taxonomical genus that includes modern humans, just because a bunch of people use "homo" to address those of gay/homosexual backgrounds doesn't mean the entire words definition get's changed, I'll really try and refrain from calling you a stupid twat again but pardon me, I get aggressive around low IQ's.
