Topical battle anyone? Prosecutor vs Defense Attorney...
 

So I made it to Round 3 in the Topical GC Tournament. Unfortunately, my opponent no-showed so I won by forfeit & wasted a pretty good verse. The Topic was "Fatal Limitations", so I came up with a verse where I was a Defense Attorney, defending my client from a Murder charge. I used his rough childhood & lack of family structure or chances of financial advancement as the type of "cultural limitations" that put him in his current position: charged as an accessory in a Robbery for Murder case on a store clerk.

Does anybody want to play Prosecutor & lock my protagonist "DeSean Daniels" vehind bars even though he didn't pull the trigger? I think a rebuttke would be dope. Plus, my verse won't go to waste & I'll feel better about spending over an hour & a half writing it. Lol

Setting: A New York City court-room. The State vs. DeSean Daniels... Defense Lawyer's closing argument (your turn @WarSand)...

Ladies & Gentlemen of the Jury, please take a moment & CLEAR YOUR THOUGHTS/
Of every slanderous statement made today by the Prosecution HERE IN COURT/
They tried to assassinate his character by using tactics of FEAR, OF COURSE/
But you witnessed the pain in my clients facial expressions, those of SHEER REMORSE/
His traumatic childhood has been well documented THROUGHOUT THE PROCEEDINGS/
An addict Mother & abusive Step-Father who treated them like trash he THREW OUT & THE BEATINGS?/
Were too much, he'd ask friends to stay for dinner cuz he DREAD WALKING HOME/
Envisioned opening the door to his moms corridor, seeing her laying there DEAD AND ALONE/
So he started running the streets with Dope Boyz & the STICK UP KIDS/
One by one, saw every Role Model he had in a casket or PICK UP BIDS/
So he fell into the trap of slinging crack & would TWIST UP LIZ (Lizum aka weed)/
A kid without structure couldn't possibly comprehend the magnitude of mistake that this HICCUP IS/
Facts: Limitations placed him in that car & it may PROVE TO BE FATAL/
Cuz my client thought he was "Straight" as all the "cards" were reMOVED FROM "THE TABLE"/
Plan was to roll passed the joint, quickly CASE IT THEN LEAVE/
But his so-called friends had a callous "ACE" UP THEIR SLEEVE/
My client had no idea he'd STEP INTO A MURDER/
Victim of circumstance & only tagged along to gain REP WITH THE BURGLARS/
That clerk didn't deserve a Death Sentence & neither does the man to my LEFT, MR. DESEAN/
Who plans on enrolling in Culinary school & becoming a CHEF LIKE RAEKWON/
So have compassion, the facts prove my client was more BYSTANDER THAN ACCESSORY/
& his girlfriend is pregnant with twins, *waves over* come to the front Ms. Watson, I STAND HER NEXT TO ME/
We know DeSean is innocent, so why MEANDER? ACCEPT A PLEA?
I felt so strongly about this case, I waved MY STANDARD ACCEPTANCE FEE/
You see, my client is a product of his environment... Born with Limitations from our ancestors FAST DEALINGS/
So don't make those Limitations fatal, instead afford him the chance to break through that GLASS CEILING/
