Let me tell you about the Fasces.

For any of you that think that the word might seem a little familiar, you've probably heard the word used in a different form, a political ideology known as Facism.

Fascism is an ultra-nationalist ideology that has powered evils such as Mussolini, Hitler, the Romanian Iron Guard and most of the current Republican party. :fyou:

The symbol of Fascism is the aforementioned Fasces. Quite simply the Fasces is a bundle of sticks. You can see it here:

The Fasces, the symbol totalitarianism and government control, existent right in the Chambers of the United States government. And people say that this isn't a Fascist state??

Why would we have obviously fascist symbols here in America, unless we are, or would like to be a fascist state??

And this, my friends is the way that a conspiracy theory works.

The Fasces is actually just a bundle of sticks. It was probably adopted by the Romans from the Etruscans, another powerful Italian civilization.

Most famously, the Fasces was carried by the lictor, a person whose job was essentially to walk around following around people who carried the power of Imperium, or the power to command an army. In other words, the Fasces was a sign of military power and prestige.

The Americans, and many other neo-classical thinkers adopted the Fases as a sign of republicanism, as at the time the Roman Republic was essentially the only model for republican governance in world history. The Italian Fascists later adopted the symbol for ultra-nationalist purposes, as the Romans represented the acme of Italian culture and prestige.

What a conspiracy theory does is provide SOME modicum of correlation.

This happened, and guess what, this other thing may possibly be related to it!!!

GTA 5 drops, guess what, violence happened in the world!!!

What a conpsiracy theory never does show is causation. Nobody ever proved that GTA causes people to go nuts and kill people, it's just presented as an, "Isn't it intresting"... and then you get to make the logical leap of faith.

Don't believe it!! Anything stated as being a symptom of something else without strong causation, (the knowledge or evidence that something causes something else) shouldn't be believed!! Just because something happens at the same time, or has some mild relation to something else is NOT causation, it's just as dumb as thinking that America plants secretly fascist imagery around it's public buildings.
