Concepts vs Punches
I would say just from reading people pay more attention to the concepts & not the punches...it seems like people's concepts are funnier or sting harder than their actually punches
Lemme break it down... funny concept + unfunny object punch = average bar (average battle w/ long schemes) In an ideal situation wouldn't you want? funny concept + funny punch = crazy bar or good concept + punch w/ sting = good bar Fuck it...in my next battle I'ma show y'all if you don't get it -I'ma take it to the next level |
i agree with u bud, sometimes a funny concept just isnt enough although i do find it the most important part of a bar

So RULE you still gon call yourself PLK? or is it gon be CK now?
Your move motherfucka... |
ye but sometimes folk focus TOO MUCH on the concept and lose the flow, like one good concept wit a beefed up flow is gonna make me go "damn" before a bunch of good concepts mashed together in a choppy flow does ya know?

Like is a simile...a comparison indicator Anything that follows like is supposed to be a damn punch...not some unfunny ass creative object & that's my whole point |
I agree Spook, I think a lot of people have this completely ass backwards.
Your concept should build to the punch. Although a concept can be dope on it's own if it's worded well, too many people (I've been guilty of this in the past) drag out a cool concept to the point where it becomes a wasted bar. A lot of it is down to lazy editing and people letting egos dictate verses, rather than being self-critical, sacrificing impact for nothing more than a neat idea. |
