Lupe Fiasco vs Lil Wayne
 

I don't want money, sales, etc. to come into this. I want your judgements based on lyrical ability and flow.

I say Lupe because he is very lyrical. I listened to Lil Wayne's "Da Drought 3" and a few others and I still say Lupe is better. Jay-Z gave Lupe a cosign and even called him a genius writer. Rakim complemented Lupe and Nas complemented him. Also Lupe switches themes smoothly and uses Entendres, Metaphors, etc. Lil Wayne has good metaphors and in a blue moon he says a real sick one, but he doesn't have themes sometimes and switches quickly. What do you think? It might seem that I am slightly biased but I used to be a hardcore Lil Wayne fan.

Lupe fiasco would probably take this one, lil wayne does have decent metaphors but thats probably about it, Lupe has got a much bigger arsenal at his disposable,plus lupe sounds better and has a better flow

I agree. Tbh I don't know why people say Lil Wayne is the "Best Rapper Alive". People can come up with a big list rappers better than Wayne.

Lil Wayne is actually the smartest rapper publicity wise...he knows how to reach a crowd way more than Lupe Fiasco..if I had to choose who to be, I'd pick Lil Wayne...I honestly think if Lil Wayne wanted to write some more complex shit he could..but he wants to appeal to the crowd...that's where the cash is at.

I agree with Mr SPLAT, but John Cena is the greatest rapper of all time, he has more fans coming to see him than Lil Wayne so it must be true.

Well all rappers are poets, but I just think Lupe uses more literary devices like entendres, metaphors(of course), extended metaphors, etc. Lupe is like a classic poet to me. He is like the poets that wrote the poems that you read in HS and College and you had to decipher them because they are written so you have to think hard about the meaning sort of. His lyrics are like concentrated and they fly over peoples heads. Wayne is a poet, but like a new controversial poet. He still has metaphors, entendres and stuff like that but its not as concentrated as Lupe's. Really anybody can like Wayne because he doesn't try to mind fuck people like Lupe does. I'm not hating on Wayne. Even though I don't voluntarily listen to him I give him his props whenever I hear one of his songs. Lupe has the lyrics, delivery and has rapped about lots of subjects and from different points of view. Lil Wayne has stays on the same subjects most of the time, but his punch lines and metaphors hit you in the face and he creates raps that will sell. I think Lupe is slightly better than Wayne, but they have strengths in different areas. I don't even think "Gangsta Lupe" would be as popular to the mainstream as Lil Wayne. His raps are too concentrated. Btw I don't have that much hate for the mainstream its just that

well every rapper starts off great........i know hes not neccesarily a rookie but hes still young............... he also kinda reminds me of cassidy for some reason like hes there but hes not if that makes sense.........i mean if keeps it up who knows could be one of the greats too cause hes not strickly underground like a joe budden............so hes still got a chance to stick out but if he sticks it out and gets ppl stuck to him like wayne does the props to him i mean ur always doin somethin right if ur around to the public for a couple years

I don't think comparing artists ever benefits anyone. On one side, one dude will be stuck to Wayne's dick, and on the other to Lupe's, and trying to get a decent opinion is laughable, because they'll disagree with every point you're trying to make just for the hell of it. I think as long as you're original, you can be happy, however in today's industry the market is very specific, so depending on what you choose to rap about you can either make it big and be appealing to any record label and make your money, (Nothing wrong with that, these "rappers" write anything without a second thought for a buck, that's their thing..) or you can be a real artist and try to be creative enough to elevate yourself and find success some other way. Wayne doesn't appeal to me, based on the fact that none of the shit he raps about means anything to me, or is anything i can relate to in the least. I enjoy listening to Lupe's music a hell of a lot more, because my brain is actually active. If I feel completely out of my zone I'll listen to a lil Wayne track, and then realize I want to cut the lyrics right out and steal the beat..

Lyrically= Lupe. Flow wise= It'll be a tie. but Wayne ain't all dat ney way. for one he'll sang other people songs and try to put his own blend to it. which is not tight at all. Lupe is way above that. his flow is neat, steady, tight, nd you can understand what hes saying. you can't understand what Wayne be saying half of the time. SMH

First off imma start this by saying, everyone hates wayne becaus hes on top. He is atcually a decent emcee if you can over look the mass hate he gets, and make up your own mind instead of sticking with the popular opinion.

Now that i got that out the way, im going to have to say lupe smashes wayne. If you prefur random punchlines and wordplay all over the place, wayne wins, hes very good at that. But when it comes to real concepts(streets on fire, letting go, daydreaming) Lupe rips wayne a new one!

As I Said earlier waynes punches are decent, but they are random as hell, overall wayne is pretty random(lol) lupe can write lines that all connect to the concept of the song, witch i appreciate more than the random lines of wayne! no hate peeps just my opinion.

I'd have to go with Lupe due to his unorthodox style IMO that is a key that makes him "different" if you will. Not to take away from Wayne but I also reflect with Lupe's music better, and I didnt really like Wayne until he dropped the Carter 1. Ive never had to Google a word listening to Wayne's music. Nor heard a MC publically hated on due to being smart. He inspired me to never expo for lames.

I have to admit, probably MOST artists that WAS underground, then went mainstream, was 10 times better before they hit the big time. Idk, it's funny how that shit works out. That's why a lot of people on here probably automatically hate lil wayne, cause he made it big and shit, but he's not THAT bad..

There's 2 ways to look at it really. 1.) If you made it big time, have way more fans, make way more money, people quote you more, then you MUST be better.
2.) If you think, 95 percent of people are usually wrong, and MORE people like wayne, (aka the mainstream artists) then Lupe is probably better.

I DO feel like lil wayne has more lyrical capability, but dumbs it down and raps what the PEOPLE want to hear. PEOPLE = MONEY.

TBH, I only listen to both of these rappers occasionally. But from what I've heard, (ive heard a little more of lil wayne probably, just cause hes been out longer).. LUPE is the better lyricist, hands down, idk why that's even an argument....
