Topical Battles
 

I've noticed the recent increase in talk about Topical Battles.... i know it's not something thats really done a lot on here down to the whole battle set up not being suited to it... and when they do go down in the forums.. they're spread out all over the place and get burried and lost....but if we were to make a board in the Emcee Central section of the forums exclusivly for Topical Battles .... how many of you would be interested ... and actualy use it?

If enough people post in here in favour of it... we'll bring it in on a trial basis.... but if it doesn't get used it'll get taken back down again.

That's nice idea...i like it...it should be done for sure !!

I don't want to clutter up the forums with a board nobody uses but if you guys will actually make use of it then I'm more than happy to provide you with it. How about a poll UA?

I'd use it. I love to do topicals it's just hard to set one up and get votes on it.

it wont go on your record.... but we could sticky a thread keeping track of records or some shit... i'm sure somebody like Rule would be able to keep track of it all ... lol

no. tbh, I think topicals should be held in the normal battle realm. With the current trend in battles lately, Tag Team and Topicals could be their own category replacing 'Exclusive' since it's almost dead. (i.e. Topical W/L & Ranking and Tag-Team W/L & Ranking) Topical being the more realistic because it's a 1vs1 scenario. However, if there were an interface for tag team setup like Cyphers where you can invite your teammate for the 'sending drop' then your opponent could do the same for the reply. iono, just running with the thought.

But I think the Battle Advertisment is kind of overkill, let alone adding a topical.

battle advertisement and topical is overkill? .... how are they related in any way shape or form?

most of the topicals people have been doing recently have been picture topicals... that just wouldn't work in the main arena ... and too many people who never check the forums would have no clue on what was going on and vote incorectly thinking it was a regular battle ... wouldn't work in the main arena.. and even if it could.. it's not something you could click your fingers and make happen anyway

they're both two forums we don't need. that's how they're related. if you want to change voters then we might as well put ALL the battles in the forums for people who actually discuss battles and enjoy doing it. i'm not staunch against it, but the new 'extra forum' we have (Batt. Advertise) isn't utilized as much as it should be. then we ad another group of battles that will get advertised where? in the text lounge once it's slept on in the advertisment forums.

What needs to be changed is how battles are done on the main site. As a battle gets votes it should bump back up to the top like a refular forum as most recent voted on. the 'not as hot' battles would justify the proper use of the Battle Advertisment.

Do away with Exclusive Area and do Topical instead. and you have better utilization of the exclusive arena instead of having a sometimey space that's dead 99% of the time.

And nah, it's not simple, but it's an idea. Do what you will with the forums, but it's an ephemral thing that will die out like many of the other forums.

Condense things and MAKE people have to utilize what the site has to offer. That's how I would go about it if it were me. no disrepsect to you UA.
