I realize I don't need to tell most of you guys, but...put frankly, the overall talent level on this site sucks nowadays. The hotlist is trash, and there are barely any cats on here who are legitimate heavyweights.

This being said, I (as do many others around here) feel that it's important that we in the forums take some sort of measure to at least try to help raise the overall talent level on this site.

So, in this regard, I'm going to ask YOU, O talented emcee...How, why, and what made you strive to become a better emcee??? How did you end up a here instead of becoming the next epic dickryder???

the vets that use to encourage me to up it has vanished round 08-09. now a' days its just us. lol. and we could care-less bout the next man. but should remember others helped us to get where we are.

Uhm, Don't know if I'm good or not but...I just started out as having fun and then read the vets lyrics and was feelin' their skill level, and the concepts they were on, so I just tried to improve to get there. I'd read their lyrics and punches and try to figure out how they set it up and came up with the punch. It's easy after that.

I battled pretty much everybody... and my skill level accumulated from it. Illimit, Real Talk, Conceited, WarTank, Left Field, TopNotch, Chizzel, Mahvulus, UA, D-Reppin, Mayneak, BrainStorm, Jason, Reefer, Oreo Boi, .. and numerous others.

This is how I evolved, don't sleep. Read some of their battle's and learn from'em. Period.

You get better as time goes on. It took me a while to catch onto things, I been here since '05 on my first account. The earliest account I can find dates back to '06 though. Still, 4-5 years is a long time. I've seen a lot of people ( Conceited, LEFT FIELD, Illimit, DaDDiO) come and go. You sort of read their shit and learn from it. It gives you an idea on what you have to do to get better.

& tbh in our current form the site's skill level might suck, and the voting too, but I feel like LB is home to the most talented emcees on the net. You take people like

Beyond, Alien, Sinizster....all legends on their respective sites. I read their shit and laugh because I feel like our emcees could really fuck them up. badly.

You can compile a top 5 list of any textcees on a single site, it would never compare to LB's top 5. Which is something like... Illimit, Left Field, Conceited, Real Talk, UA..or somethin like that. Haha.

and thats another thing. LB really is tha most advanced battle system around. we got alotta sucky battlers. but we gotta remember Ill Kid we didnt just show up here dope off bat ourselves.


but another thing, we got tha dopest spitters to hit a battle site. even dope heads from other sites come here cos tha competition they'll face.


ohh yeahhhhh. we got tha most versatile top 10 list on da net period. most Sites gotta steady list those names'll stay on tha list. here we got so many dope cats till ain no way everybody list could be tha same. all depends on what era yuh was most active.

Well, even now, I still think LB has the best punchline battlers on the net. I've been around more times than Pulse's mom, and I still think LB got the dopest textcees.

But, in comparrison, the problem is not people, the problem is the world (strange, but read on...)

Everything has sacraficed it's legends.

Wrestling has one guy who is big, John Cena, and in comparrison to years ago when it had all the big guys everywhere, it seems so much worse now.

Music had Bob Marley, 2pac, Micheal Jackson, Ray Charles, Elvis, but now we no longer have any legends of the industry.

Letsbeef is just getting like everything else, and the imact people make are shadowed by the impact of better characters. This means that it is so much harder to establish a good vet, and so momentum and hype drops from people, making their verses less legendary compaired to the past people.

Now, this was other people off topicness, now mine.

I joined the good battler circuit because I was being told from people whom I knew were respected that I was a sucky dickrider, which was true. I knew Olde English was the man, so I challenged him and he said no, because I sucked. This made me beg numerous people to mentor me, lil midget, Lethal News (Impekable), Lil Dre (Student) and Askari all stepped up, but only Askari actually taught me how to punchline and told me who were the type of guys that were good. This propted several months of serious sucking up to Street Famous and other vets, before I joined 2smoking, then USS, established some decent texting.....then hiroshimaed and manifested EtH. Life story + 1!

what we need to do is get other legends from other sites to come here, i know of alot, the only thing is most of us (yes i say us because im a legend) dont have the motivation to actually sit and think of a dope verse, then when you come to a new site with the legend swag you have w/ out knowing anyone plus the element of non-motivation and rustyness, peeps tend to hate on you, like "who the fuck does this guy think he is", im gonna talk to some dudes from goldmic and a few from six to see if they wanta come over, just embrace them and their attitudes/ ego's tho and not push them to being non-motivated, because truth of the matter is, everyone that has established themselves weath'r it be text or audio establishes some sort of ego, on another note we need to open up a legit rap school for all of the rooks that dont know the first thing to setting up a punch,

im gonna compile a list of msn's or what not, and gather a few vets that are actually concerned with elevation on the site, my old site died due to the lack of reinvention and skill level, just a bunch of vets that didnt need to accomplish anything else and just sat around making fun of the rookies ( im to blame for this aswell) , but im starting to get motivated again and the dopeness is sure to follow.

if theres anyone that consider's themselves knowledgable of how battling go's, doesnt have to be a quote on quote vet, get at me, because that's the main reason i'm here, to help kids improve, and not see this site die like all the rest..

i kinda have a problem with this whole "active vets make people improve" theory. Text battling is not rocket science for real...it takes some practice at first, but once you have the general concept down, its a matter of being creative and thinking. If the argument is that the site isnt as fun due to a lack of competitiion, i can see that, but the talent level doesnt really correlate to the amount of vets on here at any given time to me.

and there will be new vets and legends..in my time here, i've seen remarK and Jason move from vet to Legend and i can forsee the same for some other cats...

this argument/observation always comes about because perspective can only be gained in retrospect. you cant look at the site and say, "shit is whack"...it takes a wider view to see it, and you can really only look at the past and not the present in regards to that.

its getting to the point where its time to let Daddio and Illy and them just go yo...i mean dont observe it...fucking be it...be yourself, but be great in your own right

^^ see thats where your wrong, about noone wanting to fuck with anyone because its so competetive, this thread is about lack of competition, so competitiveness is NOT the reason for this mishap. LACK of competitiveness is the reason, which louie stated previously, the reason that all of or most of the legends dont feel the need to compete, lets take U.A for example, i hear a whole bunch of bullshit about how dude has fallen off and that he isnt the same dude, well thats not because he sucks now, he in truth still has that dopeness in em, just the lack of motivation/competition henders his ability's because he see's no need to compete or even try, which i feel him on because im in the same boat.

if you feel the competition then more than likely you are still elevating, which is a good thing, and competion is what drives peeps to do better and continue doin what they do

i feel you on some of this, but lets be realistic, there arnt enuff dope cats to just say forget about the legends and say let them go, this is when the site go's down hill, you always want to keep the heart of things alive, because without a heart, then theres no beat for an emcee to ride too, not everyone on here is as talented as you and rule/ jason that can elevate at that rate, just the very presence of a legend posting in the threads or battling for that matter brings a sense of " damn, i wanta be just like jason, or for the rooks, damnn i wanta be just like rule" rule didnt become a grandchampion because of the help of mediocre cats, he became one due to the help from other vets and them taking him under his wing, which is why he elevated so fast.

so saying that vets/legends arnt need'd is rediculous, mainly because without them elevation is not expedited to its full potential. we need more vets to take more rooks that have potential under their wings, shit would move alot swifter.

^^I agree with you and kryhme both...Tho i feel like LB isnt dying (so to speak) beacause X aint on, or this or that 'vet' or 'legend' either. Its all down to the same princple as every thing else. When we were new to LB it was new, fresh exciting....Why? Cos it was something new to us....Now its nothing new, i find my slef spending more time in the forums now than i do on the battle field (as so many other dudes)..Its like its kina beacame a social networking site in the way that not to many ppl battling as they use to, and are in the forums.

And becasue of this, ppl resort to trying to find what the "problem" is and start pointing fingers at the first thoguht that pops in there head... And start finding faults with the site, instead of realizing that its just not fresh any more. Not by its own fault no less, nor yours either, its just not as 'fresh' because Were so used to being here....

As for the commpetion levels?
To be honest theres a good level of competion with out the exclaimed 'vets' or 'legends' being on the site, we dont need them to be active for us to battle, or have good battles....The active ppl on the site now, wheather better or worse than you, will put up a good enough verse to make the battle exciting and entertaing enough...If any thing its just the lack of votes that makes a battle seem less exciting....

I think too many people worry about records and dont elevate cuz they dont challenge the top dudes.

Because for real you never elevate more than taking a whuppin.

I got 4 really bad whuppins on here, and they helped me more than any other battles in the elevation of my skills.

And they happened to be against 4 of the alltime dopest imo. (DaDDiO, Real Talk, Huey J & remarK)

Yeah its a shame some of the older vets dont battle that often but tbh it seems like not many people ASK for a battle from them.

Like when i battled DaDDiO people was like "Wow how you get that to happen?"

Umm... i asked him for a battle? That was it!

And there are plenty of dope heads on the site now who i'd rate a bigger challenged than some of these "Old Vets"

Trust me i think i'd have a better chance beating Mahvy or Lefty than i would beating remarK or Jason.

i understand where youre comming from, but you have to understand that youre speaking from a rook/up and commers point of veiw. See you think that U.A and others dont want to help, and would rather set atop the rankings, when truth of the matter is, (comming from experience) that they would fuckin LOVEEE to have the competition level back to its origional level..when you have noone commin at your thrown, then you have no reason to try, they have nothing to prove, which takes the fun out of everything, and sure it doesnt take rocket science to fig it out..................... but............. if thats the case then why arnt there more dope heads on the site....... EXACTLY.. some of you dont need help, and like to think that you can do it on your own, and thats fine and dandy, but thats when your elevation is hinder'd... slike a student who's in class, and has a question but is too afraid to ask for help, then when its time to take the test, he misses the question that he didnt ask for help on.. on the other hand the student that is concerned enuff raises his hand and asks the TEACHER how to do a problem, there comes a point where you cant elevate anymore without the help of someone else, but thats what seperates vet status from legend status, i went through this stage aswell, there are certain exceptions but thats besides the

I agree with everything Erupt's saying, aside 'embracing the egos of other side vets'. Fuck them if they come over here acting like the man. You got to prove yourself here to get the respect of it. Goldmic is strikeforce, LB is UFC. Strikeforce guys have little credit in UFC, even though some could do really well in it. A strikeforce guy isnt going to be respected for his strikeforce attributes in UFC, he must again prove himself.

YOURE RIGHT!....But bein in the environment of the classroom and watching others (Advanced Students) is just as helpful.....I have been helped from someone when I first started which did alot for me blol idk man IM COMPETITIVE! Im from the south n a smaller city where u have to be a one man team cuz its chances of goin places around here are very slim so u gotta grind like a mufucka and do it on ya own...its just my mindstate...but u right!

The talent level nowadays isn't near as good.

Could people here compete with the ones I listed?? yea. I know Jason could, and I think that remarK and Huey would be in there as well..perhaps a couple others could compete.

But other than that?? not really. Perhaps people would throw my name in the hat to compete..

say waht you like, but right now the talent level isn't where it used to be. I do realize that peoles legends tend to get larger as time wears on, but I think this is an honest assessment.
