Tyler the Creator is the best.......

Tyler the creator is the best Hip Hop "ARTIST" of all time.......

Now im not saying he's the best rapper or lyricist .... But he's damn good....

What im saying is.. The way he paints a picture with his words, his performances, his pure artistic NATURE in general....

His new album honestly is some of the best art ive heard in a long time... Not just the album.. but the Music videos.. the performances...

Thing is he's been doing this shit over 10 years now...... And tbh I cant think of a better hip hop ARTIST.... like Tyler puts the ART in the word Artist....

After watching his Lollapalooza performance and growth... Man niggas aint putting out art like this....

Who do you think is the best Hip Hop ARTIST....

Discuss...

Thats a valid take...he's 1 of the more talented artists in the industry & his business shit is intact....its on autopilot whether he makes music or not cuz he has that cult following

Tyler the Creator, ASAP Rocky, & Tory Lanez gotta be 3 of the most talented mfs doin it rn

LineStein 08-18-2021 11:37 AM

You know Tyler is easily one of the most creative in the game, I've been bumping a lot of Mac lately but I can't get into whose the best right now an all that, but I will say, a lot of mac songs he has go 10x harder at a live show or live sessions they are just a whole different vibe from the explicit song online, which makes him a top tier artist to me, cause sometimes it'll feel like it's a whole new song cause of they way it's presented live. Peace!! go check out Mac Miller's live show in London with the Internet an you'll see what I'm talkin' about

ItsNaturill 08-18-2021 01:58 PM

He sucks balls :D haha what good

EtH 08-18-2021 03:42 PM

I was relevant enough to be in people's sigs once.

FlatlineFr 08-19-2021 02:31 AM

I'm not homophobic, but I cant look past his trolling shit to even begin to appreciate his art.
Gay people should be offended he uses their lifestyle as a joke/troll device to sell records and remain relevant when hes not pushing new records.

Eat cock roaches, pretend to be gay.. that sums up his promo runs

It's called queer baiting. A lot of gay people do hate him for it (whether he is or isn't).

Lollapalooza is doo doo

Erupt da Monsta 08-21-2021 02:29 PM

Lol yeah Tyler does a lot of weird shit but it's interesting to me the nigga legit gives no fucks

Mac was another dope artist who was on auto pilot , he had a very artistic style he attributed a lot to The Beatles oddly enough.

Asap Rocky is artistic but not to the level of Tyler imo but he up there, Torey is nice lyrically but is he as good of a Artist as the others like Artistically... I did see a couple new videos on his new album that were artistic but how much did he play in the directing you know?

I'm curious as to what y'all think as artistic... And who is the best ARTIST not just rapper or lyricist

I have, a bunch of scrawny kids wearing sperrys and raybans trying to throw hands during a house music set.

No thanks.

EtH 08-22-2021 11:25 AM

Tbh I don't think there's lots of art in rap. Sometimes people come out with a really good angle on what they're talking about which pulls it towards storytelling or poetry but it's very very rare. Some guys can add a bit of signing in the mix which I'd say has more art rapping is usually "say those words in this allotted time" but signing is harder to decide how you're actually doing it. So most of it probably comes into the music production, video directing, live show production etc. to me.

Erupt da Monsta 08-24-2021 01:58 AM

@NirT... Hopsin actually isn't a bad addition to that list, I saw him live once, him and the whole crew before they "disbanded". Joyner is dope too, I feel like he still gonna take it another level artistically haven't reached his peek yet.
@Denton ... Ive seen some kids in spearys that could actually throw hands though my g haha
I was gonna go to the next one, but after seeing Da Baby get "cancelled" Idk how I feel about the event that's why I asked.
@EtH ... Thats actually a good take, and more so what I was referring to by saying Artist. Not so much the music... Although the ones I listed are great musically.... and def is a big chunk of what im referring to, but more so the directing , the videos, the production, and live production... All of which including the instrumentals and video production Tyler does all of that mostly himself ...

Im really trying to find the true art in music these days... I listen to all genres really... Someone link me to some actual art.... Rock, Rap, doesn't matter... Newer or Older shit but id prefer newer

EtH 08-24-2021 06:00 AM

It's hard to bring proper art into the rapping side of things itself, but I'd say storytelling is probably where most of it comes through. It's not like poetry because it's not inherently written with a tone. The tone is produced through the delivery and the music. But things like imagery and storytelling are definitely possible but how many rappers actually look at things like that? It kind of kills me listening to music sometimes where I'm like "So man, what's the point of this song? Like if you imagine pitching this song to a director or something, what's the topic here? What's the point? Oh, just the tales of the streets....AGAIN....any tale in specific? Oh just general shit that you've seen in your life arranged in no specific order or story....fantastic".

Student 08-24-2021 03:33 PM

Saw him, Snoop, Big Sean, Jhene Aiko, Atmosphere, YG, A$AP Rocky & Living Legends @ Camp Flag Gnaw in 2015, he was really good along with everyone else. Fucking creative & genius business-wise for putting his own festival together too and his whole Odd Future gang, TV show, etc.

@EtH .. Man... There are so many gems in that one statement you just made. Like real life gems. The whole part about crafting a song with a storyline in a specific order that you'd pitch to a director... Straight gem. I'll be applying that to my next song/EP.

@Student ... Yeah the guy literally makes his own concerts too... He's actually a creative genius and doesn't get enough credit. He did win a grammy recently but still... I think people are just now starting to appreciate his genius.

Nigga I Rap Tight 08-26-2021 02:41 AM

I'd add Wyclef as well, not really for his work on the score, but more so his Carnival album.

Lol you ever been?

ASAP Rocky was a fashion icon & influenced a lot of kids as far as street fashion for a while..I factor that in too when I talk artistry..but he's dead nice with comin up w/ different melodies, cadences, etc etc. He plays around with different BPMs and pockets, that's what that Testing album was about, he's probably tryna take his sound in a new direction away from that Three 6 Mafia influence

He caught the mean vibe in this video with FKA Twigs just fuckin around in the studio...the context here is he was talkin to Lil Yachty about how to find a pocket & go in on a beat then in the middle of the conversation the engineer plays this beat and he goes off on it, u even hear Lil Yachty amazed goin "oh my God" lol

As far as Tory Lanez he can sound like anyone he wants to...he's like Mystique from Xmen or Ditto from Pokemon lol..he has a very clear understanding of certain elements of music that most people wont ever grasp

For the sake of this, pretend I could rap and didn't sound exactly like I sound haha...

Whenever I thought of writing a track, I always wrote sounding that would sound terrible. My mind was so caught up in the story or the purpose as opposed to "Well what just sounds good?". I think an important part of rapping is figuring out how to make stuff sound good. You know how Tupac has a certain way of saying a small collection of words together that all just sounded great? Like the lines in 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted;

"Picture perfect, I paint a perfect picture
Bomb the hoochies with precision, my intention's to get richer"

Shit sounds really good together. It's complete nonsense, but he figured out "Ah man that sounds awesome when I say that". I think a lot of people focusing too much on the art side forget that ultimately this is supposed to be listened to and enjoyed. I've always hated Immortal Technique's Dance With The Devil because as a song, I think it just sounds terrible. He's off beat at times and he's focusing too much on the story and not enough on the actual listenability.

So there's a whole balance and if you've already got the "I can make good sounding music" part down, the world's really your oyster. You can use everything you've learned up to this point to make something people will enjoy, and then just swap out the words to tell or say whatever it is you think's important or artistic.

I know it's fairly bullshit coming from a guy who can't write let alone perform a track, but as a listener when someone can combine some stuff that just sounds good, but it's been written with an intention and there's an actual point to it where if I sat them down and asked for a purpose, they could give me it, that's what I'd call art. RA The Rugged Man in Uncommon Valor. 2pac in Keep Ya Head Up. Happy Birthday by Flipsyde. Those are examples of where I think I could say there's an artistic element, be it the style of performance, the storytelling, the concept etc.
