Battle To Ashes
 

I see a lot of people protecting those flames so here's an idea to make them relevant again & worth something. The staff could randomly pick 2 people w flames to battle, if you catch an L you lose the flame. Winner carries on. This would also help w activity as a whole. Do this once or twice a month, don't over do it & keep it in demand.

This sounds dope, though unfortunately a lot of flame-carriers are snipers who would refuse to do it.

That's kind of the point though.

If you're not willing to participate in the battle, to protect those flames then you lose them. With staff being in control of the match ups, they could ensure that they would be as even as possible to keep it fair. It'll take something that has lost its purpose and bring meaning back to them, imo.

What this place needs more than anything are battles where the participants are hidden until after you vote. 90% of people here just vote for the user they like instead of actually reading the verse. If you use name flips and personals in your drop then thats on you for exposing your opponent in the verse.

I'm focusing on one thing and that's the pointless flames right now.

I'd like to keep this from being a 'how to fix the site thread' because those get overwhelmed w a lot of ideas and nothing really comes from it. Lets see if we can take one thing and improve it.

I get what you're saying but you need to CALM DOWN. Getting "overwhelmed" by a couple ideas is just blatant incompetence. I'm simply throwing out an idea not trying to hijack your thread so you can just take about 10% off the sass there bud.

In theory it's not a bad idea. Though you can't Make a member/Force a member to battle which is ideally the concept you're putting forth.

Those who know, know flames mean shit. to those who flames mean something, they're still at the basic level of battling. & there's not much we can do about that really...most people would prefer to live in their daydream where they're King/Queen than face reality and the long road before them to improve. :high:

What if you could make someone battle though? It's not like it'd be, you have to battle or lose your right to be on the site. It's just simply, if you want to be a member with flames then you have to earn it. People could go on w their usual activity nahmean, not everyone would have to be involved w it. Obviously, if you can't get 5 in a row or whatever the amount is nowadays then you won't need to worry about it. It'd give people with that drive to battle & improve a little more motive to do so.

Same type of idea as tourneys.

Your battle will be set up, you have a deadline to meet. If you miss it then the flame's gone. If you're not active for awhile, tough shit, earn them again. People would probably bitch for a bit but once it was known & people got use to it, I think it'd work out.

Secondly, ^^that IS forcing a member to do something, which can't be done. You can't demand someone battle, if not their going to be punished, which is ultimately what you're suggesting. "Battle or lose the flames, tough shit".

As for the battle arena not having as many top tier battlers, Thats due to a number of things, though mainly that online forum battling isn't as popular as it was years ago. That's the bottom line of it. So if someone faces five illiterate fucks, it's not Really their fault, unless they're doing a Bnas, that the competition isn't up to par. Then to suggest that due to there being a lack of good battlers, they then must be forced into a battle to retain their flames or lose them ie being punished due to lack of competition isn't really a strategy one would see working out for a site that wants to retain what little activity it still has.

I don't care at all who has the flames, I'm simply just trying to help the site by throwing out an idea. I get what ya saying & see the points you made. I do think that it could be done, if you put feelings aside, cause at the end of the day those people would be getting upset for what? The fact that they can't just sit on 10 snipes and hold flames. I don't think any top tier member w flames would have an issue w this but I could be completely wrong.

They low amount of talent is an issue for this idea, like you said, so that would take some thought. There'd just be a lot of matches w lower tier members, which would be fine. It could hurt activity at the end of the day though, considering how sensitive people like to be, they might lose their shit if they're put in a position of competition on a battle site.

Imo, id say you should take control and host this idea. No one can tell you NOT to so if its your idea, why not get it started yourself instead of waiting on the sites approval, ya know? If it fails, at least you tried. If it succeeds, thats dope.

But no one asked me to make LB Finest mixtapes and I didnt ask anyone to make them.. I just did it.

The site's opinion will be scattered asf and most ideas brought up wont get done because of it so ya might as well do it at least for yourself. We need more leadership.

I approve of this strategy for most things in life. If you have an idea just do it don't wait for someone to approve it more times than not it will just get dismissed as a waste of time or considered a failure before it even gets started. It's much harder to dismiss an idea that's already a proven working concept, if it works it takes all of the argument out.

I don't have the ability to take the flames from the name, I can set up battles all day long but it'd be pointless.

I had that mentality back when I started THE REVIVAL section for topicals.

This is massive FAX. 99% of what’s out there on the text arena is straight up hot garbage and audio isn’t much better. I still have PTSD from the days where I tried to vote on every open battle.

As for the flame thing, I kinda agree with what Odin said about people that know know they’re not important. Kind of like records. I mean, it would be nice if all new members didn’t think Bnas was some god because he has a great record but I dunno what we could do hahaha.
