Should you have to battle/vote to participate in forums?
 

Should there be some requirement to battle and/or vote on a regular basis in order to participate in the forums? Thinking of it as a way to encourage activity in the core part of the site.

Actually yeah because otherwise we're all just going to complain in the forums about how battles aren't going on anyways. LOL

No. Forum activity is the backbone of the site these days, and the more restrictions you place on it will ultimately hurt the site. Battling isn't nearly where it used to be back in the days. To make a change to the most active part of the site, based off of a struggling part of the site is simply a bad business move.

i think other than mods and title holders being exempt from this stipulation everybody else should be encapsulated under this rule.

When LB was at its best we had one yearly tournament.

But with 1/10th if the members, we have about 11. Instead of trying to change stuff, look to the past and see what worked.

This poll question seems more like a statement than a question. Battling is the core activity for the site, but I think the forums have replaced that for a lot of long-term members, which is unfortunate. I've wondered myself whether we would be better off getting rid of the forums entirely. I think making forum access contingent on battle/voting activity might be a better option/compromise to that. But I also think people are averse to having something they've accessed for free all along remade into a conditional perk. It's tough.

I don't think so. I battled for years I don't anymore and I vote pretty rarely if there was some rule where I had to vote or battle I probably would just ghost.

After the exclusive GCs ended, which was maybe before my time, there was basically 1 or 2 GCs per year in each format. No one bars, tags, schemes, anything. JUST the grand daddy prize.

No. A lot of forum activity isn’t driven by those who battle a lot but instead by those who used to or still do battle but just seldomly. Forcing those people to meet a battle quota to use the forums would likely just result in less forum activity.

Upping the battle arena participation requirements for tourney entry would probably be the way to go if you’re trying to increase activity in the basic arenas.

You're the worst battler in the thread. If we all were happy spitting wack shit we'd battle as much as you. If you weren't friends with Punk for 2 weeks you'd essentially be Bnas.

I don't think it's the solution, I don't battle much but I don't like the idea of being forced to battle so I can talk shit in the forums.
