Why.....

Are we just allowing folks to delete for any reason whatsoever anymore? I remember when the first Bleu account got deleted it was a big deal. Now it seems it’s happening all over the place and some of em even get to come and go as they please, deleting each time they do. Why should folks get to erase their past losses and fuckery, destroying tournament and battle histories in the process, then come back and compete like it never happened with no record of it? There’s 1000s of folks who don’t fuck with this site anymore that simply just don’t log in. Put a stop to this bullshit. Learn to live with your losses or log off and don’t come back. unless personal info is exposed against someone’s will, fuck an account deletion.

I said Yo 02-13-2020 08:47 AM

X had to allow voluntary account deletion cause of a lawsuit/legal issues

Thanks for the answer. I seem to have missed a lot while I was gone. Definitely understand that then. It’s still a shame for the site though.

The answer to this question is simple. Thanks to the EU, people have the "right to be forgotten."

I don’t remember a citizen of an EU nation deleting their shit though. Oh well.

Don’t mind me. I’m just salty I started writing that 32 for Bleu, or Noir, or FORFEITED or whatever his name is

RULE 02-13-2020 11:23 AM

Deleting accounts is fuckin stupid and disrespectful to people you battled against and the site as a whole imo.

Especially when so many seem to be the result of temper tantrums.

But its a legal issue so each to there own.

I agree and would take it a step further by saying it's a salty lil bitch move. None of us like to lose, not get our way or be told no. It's just a part of life and being gracious in defeat is something we can all strive for. The threat of legal action is a hoe move too people need to nut up and take their L's that shit is cringe as fuck.

Zezmeril 02-13-2020 12:24 PM

Also you shouldn't be able to bitch out delete an account and come back with a new one and get your titles back. Other wise the titles don't mean shit. You should have to earn that shit back if you bitch out and then come back.

I dont agree with this. Mods should just make a legacy account for the deleted user or smthn that noone can access but has the titles an stuff for record book purposes.

No h8 man, but when I came back I got bar of the verse in several battles but lost because they earned a title 6 years ago and left. But when they came back and battled people voted based on purely that title. Even saying "Zez got the bar of the verse but other was just more experienced" bitch please that title got these has beens some votes.

Esso 02-13-2020 12:40 PM

Giving them their titles back shouldnt be an issue...what’s earned is earned. I’m sure it involves complicated work I can’t comprehend but it’d be cool if you could deactivate instead of delete. That way if a person does end up coming back, they come back to that account and all their old shit gets restored.

That's a whole different argument though. Before I had a title the whole mindset I had was I want to battle anyone with a colored name. Anyone who has any kind of status is who I want to battle. I have lost to a grip of HoFers here but years later I can appreciate the battle as being dope as a whole and give myself some credit for seeking out the challenge. The wins and losses only really matter in the heat of the moment. If you are confident and have the skill to back it up the titles on your opponents eventually won't matter and you will start amassing your own.

This rieper kid was tryin to get me dq'd in a GC a few years back look at him now. Persistence and confidence are huge.

Zezmeril 02-13-2020 12:46 PM

Or at the very least put it on there account and not under their name for text battles so they don't get sway on battles.

This isn't really about a threat of legal action from an individual, though. It's about compliance with the GDPR.

I don't feel a way about it but you have come quite a way since then an that's more what I was pointing out.

Edgeworth 02-13-2020 01:18 PM

A lot of big facts in this thread

Guts 02-13-2020 01:42 PM

i have suggested for awhile that there needs to be a consequence. not like, hey, you're not allowed to delete, but more like, ok so you deleted, therefore, you can't just come back tomorrow and make your new account and act like nothing happened.

i think if you should decide to delete, you get an ip ban for a certain amount of time. the consequence will make people think twice before deleting.

i'm aiming this mostly at people who delete in protest or over a loss. i mean, if someone just in general wants to be deleted for any reason i get that. people like nocky who didn't want his kids to ever find his shit per chance.

Agreed.

EtH 02-13-2020 04:43 PM

X doesn't understand GDPR.

That's literally the answer to the question.

Wyldernez 02-13-2020 05:57 PM

why do mods have to check ur thread before you make one?? like wtf now?

Malishus 02-14-2020 11:19 AM

its is gay af to delete your accts , its not fair to your opponents who whupped your ass and now cant brag about it as much since theres a big empty space next to that battle...

Aggo 02-14-2020 12:28 PM

Yeah but making someone delete their account is like ending their carreer. Should get a title for it.

Shodan 02-15-2020 08:28 PM

I like how account deletion is allowed because of the "right to be forgotten" since people who randomly delete their accounts definitely deserve to be forgotten

Until they come back under multi accounts and let us all know who they are so we can remember them again.

Again, not how GDPR works.

If everyone has the right to be absolutely and unequivocally removed from any website, where's the Amazon delete button?

Rai 02-15-2020 10:36 PM

Lol I like you, EtH. That last comment was hilarious af. Amazon delete button is bahzzzz, son!

Anywho. If it has not been stated yet, you have to go through X or RULE (not sure if I can delete accounts, as I havent checked yet) to get your account deleted now. Bleu n Punk both asked (really demanded) for their accounts to be removed. We really don't need the drama from Punk or the whining, pitty party that Bleu throws, (EVERY time he loses in a tournament final) on the site rn anyway. I think we can all agree on that. Except the dedsec members, I'm sure they are salty as a mf.

Student 02-15-2020 11:31 PM

In a effort to discourage account deletion we used to not give deleted accounts their titles back.

@Reiper eventually got some titles back but that was after he returned and won 3-4 titles. Plus Row cheated him out of a tournament and that was the reason he deleted.

Seul 02-16-2020 12:11 AM

Back when I was staff, the mods along with NOBLE had decided deleted accounts with titles would get them stripped, if the person ever returned. Since deleting was becoming so common, we decided if we can't stop it, we can at least deter it. Going forward, we could maybe even hand out a infractions? If they return on a new account obviously, if they legit delete and leave, thats the delete buttons use. Most of the people that delete -- return, in fact, almost all of them.

I'd like to see something enforced, doesn't have to be entirely how we decided it to be back then, but something along the same lines. Also, this is not a slight at anyone in particular, just saying we should come up with something.

We should also be careful of brand new accounts in tournaments, they will most likely delete once they lose. They are like burner phones, you get your use out of em then throw it away.

Thoughts?

(Edit: I didn't read most of the thread, just skimmed, so if something i said's been covered, my bad lol).

EtH 02-16-2020 02:33 AM

Again, I say it every thread. I got a 5 year account with every battle and post I'd ever made removed, and half of the site including the current mod defended it happening and didn't say a word.

So if I now decide to delete whatever throwaway 10 battle account Ive used since, I don't give a fuck if yous have a problem with it. I lost all the work I put into the site and can't get it back, so sorry if I ruin 3 battles by deleting.

Malishus 02-16-2020 03:22 PM

how bout deleting your acct and you are not allowed to enter any tourneys or allowed to battle at all under new acct as well as. because u basically can reuse all of your old bars everytime

EtH 02-16-2020 03:56 PM

^So get rid of literally the main event of this year's text and audio GC?

"Drama" lol shutup. You biting famous jokes and using them as bars while being one of the most shit inactive mods at the same time is 10x worse than deleting an account. Blow me.
