Could a Premier League style table work on LB?
 

I been thinking we've had some great titles and contest on LB but when i think about my fave sport competition (The Premier League - Football) i wonder if its possible on LB.


It would kinda require a number of people who could battle maybe 8 lines a week for 10-12 ish weeks straight.

Maybe have no shows count as a draw point (1 point) for the person no showed. 3 points for a win.

Its one of the only tihngs thats never been done on LB, altho the PYW is similar on a smaller scale.

Thoughts?

Big fan of the premier league, I feel like something this major would require people to be extremely active over a long period of time. You know, so it works flawlessly and all that.

Sad to say but you mirror what i think. Would be dope but probably near-impossible to actually pull off.

This idea was thrown out before years ago but never took off. I do like the idea though.

im thinking... 10 people, 18 x 8 line battles, one battle a week.

3 points for a win, 1 point for a no show win, 0 for a loss.

Win percentage replaces goal difference.

Could be fun, question is do you see ANY 10 people lasting 18 weeks?

No. That’s why I try to do PYW with like 8-10 people battling once so that it lasts just a couple months rather than half a year.

Also idk I think 1 point for a no show is kinda wack. Maybe subtract a point from the person who no shows? But you can’t really punish the guy who submits his verse IMO

Unfortunately I don’t think we have enough people who can make that long of a time commitment. Perhaps a competition it would be easier to mirror would be the Champions League? It would be different to tournaments we already have because it would have a pool stage, and knockout stages before the final would have a home and away leg.

To live up to the idea of the Champions League, I think everyone that has won any kind of title or competition in the past 12 months would get automatic qualification, followed by finalists and then wild card signups to fill up the pools. I’d be happy to run this if people were interested?

sounds like the PYW. but yes the league table shit makes it all the more better, why not just add it to the current pyw? Coz most of the folks who did be actively battling every week for that long give or take two or three are already in the current pyw.

This is what @Mayneak tried to bring on board back in, I think it was ‘09...? Not sure on the date but remember him constantly fighting up hill with the idea.


Personally I like it. Having another 8 line text battle a week isn’t much, to be honest. Just have it fall three days after or before the PYW so that people are able to attend both. Three days for 8 lines is more than doable :high:

PYW is just a forum event I keep going for those that want to be part of something organized and fun on a frequent basis. If RULE wants to do something like that but on an “official” basis as a mod then PYW obviously can take the backseat. Don’t want everyone burning out

It definitely wouldnt be an PYW replacement or anything like that.

I know in american sports there isnt many that are decided by a league table, most have a knock out playoff, but i do long the long term nature of the premier league.

which is why american sports are only popular in america lol

Its weird but i kinda support achievements if that makes sense.

Liverpool over so overdue im really pulling for them to win. I also really wanna see Ole do well.

If a player has never won a title or cup i wanna see them win for there own personal reasons lol. Like dope texters who have never won a GC.

I didn't read this whole thread so sorry if I'm repeating but could be a dope (& totally unrealistic) idea to fully embrace the full soccer system. Would definitely encourage dudes to be active too.

- Premier League: Top Tier Rappers of the month. Maybe like the Top Ranked 30 or so.
- Championship League: Ranked 31 to 60 (or whatever)
- League One: Everyone else, 61 'n lower.
(- League Two: Fuck it, strictly noobies)

Relegations/Promotions after each month based on the performance ranks, etc. Premier League Tourney titles would hold more weight. League Oners, etc can still battle Premier Leaguers like how domestic tournaments are.

Could even take as far as establishing National Leagues on top too per hoods. Like Europe can have it's own league. North America it's own. Maybe each continent lol. Then put together like a global UEFA-type Champions League and World Cup tournaments which would be the most prestigious titles. Idk, rough sketch here.
