What were y’all doing before coming to LetsBeef? Where were you rapping or battling at?

Me: I started off with poetry in jr high. Writing for some girl I was “in love” with. Fast forward a few years and I was rapping and battling in yahoo chat rooms. Met a few guys and formed a group called Chit Chat. Made a free web page and posted all of our songs and bars on it. Shit was dope. I probably had 3 yahoo accounts get banned for obscenities. I remember rapping into my answering machine and playing it back. Then I found this place 10 years ago randomly from a google search. What’s your story?

I was watching old WRC rap battles on YouTube and old KOTD battles and thought there's gotta be a place on the Internet like this where I can do something similar. I was 17 at the time and registered and joined. Never had battled or even rapped before I got here. ILLoKWENT was my first battle on one of my old deleted accounts and he absolutely smoked me. I was hooked since then. Remember having battles with CakedOut and Aggo way back in the day tryna get on top of the monthly ratings cause I thought that was the it thing to do, then I got invited to the GC in March 2013 where GOOD GRIEF was my 1st Round opponent. The rest is history, I guess.

I used to freestyle battle in Bristol.

Never wrote a bar till i got here.

I thought we had to FREESTYLE in text battles too so i would write my first bunch of battles really fast cuz i thought there might be a built in timer lol.

I'm more of a competitive gamer, but I've always been competitive and I like to work hard and see improvement. Idk I think I like watched 8 mile or some shit and just ended up finding LB and doing nothing but opens until I discovered the forum side of the site.

Nothing like a GC final to make you over-think your bars tho. Happened to me in RULE Vs UA 2.

Yeah 6 years can make a Hell of a difference lol the finals was a hurdle I struggled to get over for a while, though.

My first GC i didnt think i had a chance at all. Figured the old heads would stick together and vote me down so i was pretty loose when writing it.

The next one i tried to be over-clever and it was a bit meh lol.

Yeah they tend to do that, the Audio GC is a prime example :)

Did some freestyling in a few cyphers here and there. One time my buddies band (alternative/punk) got a gig at a bar and didnt realize they were supposed to play like a 2 hour set. Asked me to freestyle during an intermission. To give the guys a break. Just a live drummer and a wholey unprepared Aggo on stage in front of like 75-100 people.

Then some subreddits I would occasionally get into little "rap wars" in the comment section. Full cringe. Strangely enough somebody somehow used one of those reddit comment raps of mine as a battle here. Maybe a dr. Dickride multi. That shit was weird as hell.

I ran a like 10,000 person Bebo page that hosted battles with me and lesser known guys like UA, Mayneak and Askari joined through.

Before Lets Beef I was rap battling & cyphering with people IRL. I wasn't in any live recorded shit or nothing. It was all just for fun & it was when I was just getting started with freestyling too so I was really bad back then & was getting clowned on sometimes for it. Then I joined this place and it pushed me to become a better rapper. Now people who I know both IRL & online acknowledge me as an emcee and ask me for collabs here and there.

I was watching a bunch of rap battles on YouTube,
And one day ii was like there’s gotta be a site
Where ii can watch more battles. So ii googled
Rap battles and a bunch of sites popped up,
Let’s Beef was at the top of the list. ii joined
And got hooked my first battle was vs Nyquill
got Smoked and ii was hooked. Been here ever since.

I was writing rap albums (only lyrics, I can’t produce or anything to save myself) and one day I was like “If I could practice against other people who are actually into rap I might be able to get better, so I googled “online rap battle games” and the first thing that came up was a Scratch game. That was pointless so the next link was LB, when I read all the info it seemed as if there were thousands of users active (this was about February this year lmao) so I signed up and took a battle in the unranked arena. It must have been one of those days where the FVC had just been yelled at for inactivity because a whole bunch of FVC votes poured in within like 20 minutes, and they were for me. I got excited and TYR (now called XxTruthxX) challenged me to a battle, thinking he could snipe me. But Justo da G had invited me to his crew and taught me about multis in the mean time so I ended up beating TYR and from then I was obsessed (didn’t win again for ages tho).

I do remember thinking I could climb my way up the ranks by beating Lil Kilo, then Rieper, then finally reaching the ultimate pinnacle and beating Bnas.

Watched 8 Mile for the 8th time in 2006 and I Google'd "Freestyle Rap Battles", the rest is history, well most of it, 2006 - 2011 pretty much got deleted.

Straight inventing words. Shits next level.

Idk, I've rapped since a young age. Always freestyled. Always wrote songs. I found this place back when Myspace, Yahoo messenger, and limewire were all the coolest shit, and to have a mic on your computer was dope as fuck. I wish I could find that acct. But I cant tell yall his name without giving up my name.(i wasnt very creative back then) So I've never asked. And like many acts. I fell off of the site...I ended up going through like the next 10 years or so after that, just writing, every now and again peepin on yall, but never staying or interacting, just taking a look. It was until sometime after high school, when I decided to make TK. I was already going by that name when I was locked up, and in school and around my peeps. That's why I'll never change my name. And now it's been a few years. I've been active and inactive. But I think I'm gonna be here for awhile. Yall are pretty alright......at best..

Started off drunk freestyling with the homies, that turned into freestyle battles against random dudes at parties, realized I was half decent through doing that, seeing peoples reactions, etc.

Freshman year of Highschool. I was broke as fuck with no internet or phone. But i was inspired by the rags to riches stories of a lot of rappers. Took a programming class and spent most of the time looking for a site to rap on not blocked by the school. This was the one. Then i left that class and fell off of the site. A few months ago i got inspired by lyrics again and decided to hop back on.
