Deadlines take into account more than 2 people, just saying

I feel the deadline is perfect for people like me who work all the time .

It would make sense to shorten the sending time if there were rounds but it's only 1 battle for the month so why not give people time to craft their best work? Plus people are usually involved in other tournaments, LBA, etc.

I'm cool w the deadlines, I was just throwing out an idea.
