Personally, the only aspect of Islam that attracts me is Sufism, and that's not even considered Islam by "real Muslims."

I guess you can say that. The way Sufi Islam interprets the relationship between man and God is totally different from the interpretation from orthodox Islam. In orthodox Islam, God is a transcendent other entity and the goal of life is to serve him so that we may make it to paradise. To the Sufi though, God is essentially our true self, and the goal of life is to bring about the annihilation (fana) of the ego/individual self (nafs) so that we merge into Allah. I find Sufi-ism a lot more beautiful and closer to truth.

Sufism is alright, i think so too. They r kinda like sadhus in india as apposed to the Brahmin priests. My fav hindu sect is the Aghoris because of there extreme approach to spirituality.

It doesn't matter what your mother believes. It's just a belief. People treat religion likes it's some sort of brand. You don't even believe in hell so you minus well just be an atheist or a theist instead of converting to and perhaps even dedicating your life to one religion just because someone else holds a different belief in another religion.
