Real studio shit?

Any of yous ever been to a real studio to record ur shit? like ever walked into a place with ur lyrics an beats an then work with a pro to make that stuff like 100% studio quality? what cha got to share bout dis? :grass:

Barzooka 10-19-2018 08:19 AM

No but I know of a studio down in Albany that I can go to.

Brayne Ded 10-20-2018 02:52 AM

Never even seen a real studio. Only studio I've ever used was my apartment like 8 years ago. 'Twas an old, crusty twin mattress stuffed in a beautiful carpeted closet. It was decked out with a state of the art "Rock Band" microphone (from an Xbox 360) to record with. Everything was professionally mixed by an amateur engineer (with absolutely no musical knowledge) on a free Audacity download. All on a shitty, outdated laptop. The production quality was insane. And by that I mean fucking awful.

Supsie 10-20-2018 03:02 AM

thanks 4 ur inputs guys.. theres a studio i know of too.. an yes iv only ever recorded in my own home.

Bape 10-20-2018 10:19 AM

Pretty sure Bleu might of at some point, not sure though.

lllllllllllll 10-20-2018 12:59 PM

If you’re not renting one out, the reason it being so expensive is because you’re not only paying for to use the quality equipment, but you’re also renting out an engineer as well. Someone to focus on your sound and give it every touch it needs. Some complain about the pricing of it but I’m 100% with it. I’ve been to tons of studios to both record and just to hang out while one of my boys record. But honestly if you’re gonna just walk into a studio with lyrics and a beat, you’re 9/10 unprepared. Especially if it’s an mp3/wav file beat.

If you don’t have a full breakdown project of your instrumental then you might as well record at home because you’re gonna get the same exact quality. You’re not about to just walk into a studio with a beat that came from a YouTube producer from 2004, trash quality and pretend the guys gonna mix your vocals into an already compressed instrumental. Not gonna happen. That there alone is the biggest reasons most artists don’t return to big studios. Not because the studio didn’t give em that sound, it’s because the studio couldn’t give them that sound due to what you have them to work with.

As long as you have trackouts to a beat you wanna use, your vocals can never sound too loud or too low unless the engineer is a complete bonehead. It’s like your vocals will become just as important as a snare or the drum. They’ll fit right in.

Supsie 10-20-2018 05:18 PM

Ok punk thanks for the reply, I don't get it tho what do u mean I can't walk in there with ur own beats from YouTube an just record? I thought that's what u could do then leave it to them to mix it an make it sound dope at an real good? But u say no? What else do u need to bring? Or tell them cause I was planning on going in there to record a whole mixtape but get the dude to mix it an stuff I was just gonna .... do what you said is a waste of time pretty much? What else needs to be done?

Also I know it can be expensive but yo if u want to have a proper CD or album dun that u can then go hand out to record lables it's whatcha godda doo. Nah mean.

If you’re using a beat from YouTube, make sure you visit the producers website to purchase or get the stems to the beat so it can be properly mixed and mastered for CD/Digital quality. Don’t just take him an mp3 file beat and expect it to turn out golden because it’s been compressed already. How? Because it’s in mp3 format all together. Whatever he’s going to do to that beat st the studio you’ll most likely be able to do at your home.

You think Supsie would be capable of the type of EQ, and other mixing a trained professional would be? Lol.

You might be able to. Hell, maybe even I'd be able to. But, Supsie?

....Doubtful.

You don't need trackouts for beats but it definitely helps for your vocals to sit in the mix. You won't get the same quality you will at home because 1) the engineer knows how to mix better than you 2) they have way better equipment

Depends on the sound he’s looking for and how much space the instruments take up on a compressed beat because simply using an mp3/wav file you can still tell you used a mp3/wav file. You can hear it clear as day, no matter how GREAT it may sound.

Word mixing with track outs is always better so as long as the engineer knows what they're doing. But it's not a necessity to get good/great mixing. You're just not gonna get the best possible mix without track outs.

For any upcoming artist that doesn't even have a catalogue to begin with I'd def suggest skipping on paying for track outs off the bat. You might just waste a bunch of bread for nothing in the end. You're better off dropping music with decent quality, saving some money and building your fan base / catalogue at the beginning. Just my insight/opinion though

Word up, this is what i thought gee. Like i thought studio would be better then house equipment, man i was a pro with cool edit pro but i cant seem to get that anymore for free ye i know its audition now, but.. man walks into studio throws down some cash an be'z like make my tracks sound radio quality, then spits on the beats, i thought thats how it a go down, but i guess not.. Punk says no. Yea i know how to make dope tracks an good quality stuff sound quality wise but still... prolly not as good as people who have a whole studio and do that shit as a job every day.. anyways.. sup blue hows lyf.

BTW what is "trackouts" bro i just get it off youtube, i got heaps of beats, r u telling me that if u go into a studio with an mp3 file beat that when they go to use it, it like all fucks up an sounds shit?

Appreciate all ur feedback guys.. but not you rant..

I can get you a torrent for a decent DAW. Pretty much anything you want. Pro Tools, Studio One, Reaper. I'm not sure about Cool Edit though

In the long run buying your own shit is probably more cost effective but a studio is definitely convenient. Track outs are basically the project file for a beat.. So each instrument / VST is on a track of it's own which lets you can customize the mix on the beat for what you're trying to do with your vocals on the track. With an mp3 you have no control over the mix of the beat just the mix of your vocals over the beat.

@supsie if you need beats with trackouts instead of paying someone 200 plus for one online, holler at me

lllllllllllll 10-24-2018 02:29 PM

Your average Trackouts cost from $50-$100

Exclusive rights may cost 200 but normally not for no damn trackouts only.

Supsie 10-24-2018 04:11 PM

Wtf is the point of trackouts tho cause you hear a beat an write words to it, to flow with it dopely an correctly, it seems weird doing it the other way round changing the beat to suit lyrics, you gots to be on beat an flow with it ride the wave. I don't see how moving the beat around once lyrics r done would even sound legit.

Not like changing the pattern of the beat but changing how the beat is mixed to accommodate your vocals.

Barzooka 10-24-2018 05:25 PM

There's a studio down in Albany that I'm allowed to use. I should probably take an advantage of that one day.

Cool edit pro, or audition which is the New cool edit pro if possible. Or any that are very similar to it, because that's the one I knew all the tricks too. Thanks Bleu. One that is real good an simple to use (like cool edit was)

lllllllllllll 10-25-2018 08:59 PM

No program is going to be simple to use lol

Even audacity has its ways of being challenging to people who don’t just press the record button
