RULES:

1) All participants will choose a character. There aren't many restrictions but I do ask your character is fictional and can be readily researched. Please do not pick some obscure ass anime character. Also, If you choose a character that has different variations, I'd like to know which specific one (For example, if you choose Batman.. which Batman? This might not be the best example but I want the research to be as accurate as possible to avoid any disputes.)
In the spirit of the competition, the more well known the character.. the better. (For example, I would choose Scruffy from Futurama. He's not a major character but there is enough information about him to write a verse.)
KEEP YOUR CHARACTER SELECTION A SECRET!
Once you sign up for the battle, private message me your character choice, what media they are from (TV show, movie, book, etc) and I will confirm your selection or ask you to choose another character. This will be an anonymous round of battles and I will reveal the characters identities at the conclusion of the round in a Reveal thread.

2) This is a single round of battles. This month's event is not a tournament.
ALL VERSES WILL BE 8 BARS, 16 LINES. All verses will be submitted by the deadline which will be determined when I post the card
There is no pressure to advance and I am giving ample time to research the character you are matched against once the card is up.
With this being said, it is crucial there are absolutely zero no shows. An event such as this requires more effort than a Ranked battle, so treat it as such. You will probably spend some time researching your opponent to find "personals" to use in your battle. Your opponent will be doing the same. If you sign up for this and no show, you are doing a discredit to not only my effort setting this us but your opponent's hard work, as well. A no show in this event will make you ineligible for any future events I host. No exceptions.

3) BRAYNE WREKT will be a compliment battle this month.
This is vastly different from a normal battle. Well, not really.. but it is a different style of writing. You will still have punchlines but they will be positive and complimenting of your fictional opponent. This can be challenging to write but also an entertaining read. 4) VERSES WILL BE SUBMITTED DIRECTLY TO ME VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE
Do not post an actual battle. Private message me your verse when you are ready to submit. Once I have both verses of a matchup, I will post a poll and voting will commence in an eerily similar fashion as Shodan's Challenge Circuit. Votes must be expo'd (it should go without saying that you cannot vote on your own battle; doing so will result in a disqualification.) I will know everyone's identities and it would be stupid to get DQ'd for a single vote.
On a side note... Just as I didn't vote in BRAYNE DAMAGED, I will not be voting in this either. I'm just the host, yo.

5) To win a battle, you must meet the following conditions:
First to 5 expo'd votes or a 3-0 knockout wins the battle.

6) Format your verse as plainly as possible. I'd recommend not using quotations or capping your rhymes. Proper punctuation would be a plus as well. I reserve the right to edit your formatting (and formatting alone) to make sure no one is easily identified by their format.
If I do edit your formatting, I will send your verse back to you to make sure you are okay with me posting it and I didn't affect any punches/wordplay/metas/etc.

Y'all make sure you PM me your character selection so we can kick this off soon.

So do we know our opponents in advance? Are we not supposed to use our character's name in the verse and ha the voters figure it out? I'm not sure if that's what you mean by anonymity. Also by personals do you compliments about the character we picked or about our opponent?

You will know your opponent in advance. Only by which characters are paired up on the card. You know who you are, so find your character and see who you're matched against. Do some research and write a 16 line verse complimenting your opponent. DO NOT post a battle. PM your verse when it's finished. I will post a poll thread with your opponent's verse and everyone will vote that way. If it goes smoothly, it will appear to those not involved the characters battled each other. Once all the battles close, I will post a reveal thread so all the participants know who wrote what verse. Make sense?
