We're gonna kick off Audio and Text tournaments in March with the following prizes in each tournament:

To QUALIFY for entry
Get in the Top 32 or Top 64 rankings in the Basic Arenas during February 2017. We'll run a 64 person tournament if we get enough qualifiers, otherwise we'll run 32 person.

We're less than a week in....there's about a dozen people qualified. Everyone who participates in LBT gets a match in this month so some of them will qualify....its gonna be at least a 32 on the text side.

If it's like the last couple of GC tournaments it will be 12 tournament lines which is equivalent to 16 lines in a regular text box

depends how the seeding is done or if X just gonna do a random draw for the brackets. If its seeded by monthly ranking, as of today some of the first round matchups would include (not considering multi accounts that wouldnt be entered)

The text tourney will be 4 bars/8 lines.

The seeding for audio and text will randomized. The first round will be random matches.

Audio might be 16 person if we don't get enough people.

So Subreal would only get in on his multi? lol...

Anyway, gonna try and drop another battle or two this month (and win it) to ensure GC entry

8 Line Battling Is SO MUCH BETTER!! Especially Since the Voting Has been Shaky. Plus EVERYBODY knows That People are Less Likely to Fully Read, Diagnose and Accurately Compare Two 16's Rather Than Two 8's....#BigFacts☆

Macc always got something to say. I'd rather read a hot 16. It's super hard sometimes to choose a winner based off 4 bars. Every battle will be a tie

Why would the GC for text be 8 lines? The GC has never been 8 lines. Deciding the Grand Champion off of a 4 bar battle?

Happy to hear more reasons for 16 vs 8, it's not set in stone..

As Manhattan said the tournament has always been 16 line. There is no reason to change it. 8 lines doesn't make sense to me, this is supposed to be one of the peak moments of the LB calendar. 8 lines is far too small for the purpose.

If this is in the official tournament bracket (which it will be) you can only choose a specific number of lines for the entire tournament. You can't change it after that. Also, giving the same number of lines every round, makes it fair for everyone.

16 shows WAY more range and takes more skill then doing an 8, a lot of GC battles have been decided because someone started off strong (8) but finished horribly (myself included)

I think that GC battles, assuming constant length, should be 12 tournament lines, i.e., 16, or about 16, regular lines. Anything substantially shorter permits not enough material to properly represent the participants' abilities and is less satisfying to read, whereas anything substantially longer requires strenuous writing - at least for me.

I suggest these battle lengths, given in tournament lines, for a 32-man GC:

Round of 32: 10
Round of 16: 12
Round of 8: 14
Round of 4 (Semifinal): 16
Round of 2 (Final): 20

X can probably change that (if he wants to).
