Top 5 Video Games of All-Time

In your opinion, what are the top 5 video games of all time on any platform?

ILLoKWENT 07-30-2014 05:44 AM

1.supermario bros.
2.street fighter 2
3.nba jam
4.tecmo bowl
5.nfl blitz
6. Radiant silvergun/ikaruga (2 of the greatest shooters of all time)

NOBLE 07-30-2014 06:15 AM

Mine are..
1)GoldenEye (the first really good 3D shooter game imo)
2)Super Street Fighter II (I'd still play that shit till this day)
3)Mortal Kombat (in retrospect, the graphics suck and the storyline wasn't that great, but it revolutionized fighting games. It was the first time I'd seen such gore.)
4)Super Mario Bros (I actually DON'T like Mario bros and never have. I was more of a Sonic fan. But you can't deny that Mario Bros really set the standard for that type of game.)
5) Call of Duty (I think in more recent times, this has been the best video game hands down.)

Saxx 07-30-2014 06:18 AM

Jedi Knight2 Jedi Outcast.

THE most complete game I have ever played.

Hubert Cumberdale 07-30-2014 09:34 AM

I'll just go with my favourites. It's a lot harder if we're talking "greatest". I'll go with the games that had the biggest "impact" on me.

1. Grand Theft Auto 3
2. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
3. Metal Gear Solid 2
4. Metal Gear Solid 1
5. Call of Duty: Black Ops

Row 07-30-2014 09:39 AM

smash bros. deuces

Hubert Cumberdale 07-30-2014 09:50 AM

Grand Theft Auto 3, imo, is also the greatest video game of all time.

While there were steps taken by other games, GTA was mind blowing when it came out. No one could understand what a gigantic leap it was from previous games. The weather system, the pedestrians with dialogue, the driving, the scale, the missions. It was such an insanely revolutionary game at the time. Us MGS fans owe a lot to it because Kojima's entire career has been built around trying to take a step above what GTA put out. He is currently "depressed" because he saw GTA 5 on PS4 and feels that he needs to take another step to make MGS 5 better than it.

Saxx 07-30-2014 09:56 AM

Ah yeh I loved Resident Evil 4 (if thats the one set in spain/portugal)

Enfinite 07-30-2014 10:04 AM

Ocarina of Time
GTA: San Andreas
Final Fantasy 7
Mass Effect series was pretty damn good.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2

When I get around to the Metal Gear series my list will probably change.

Hubert Cumberdale 07-30-2014 10:17 AM

Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait.

YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED ANY MGS?!?!?!?!?!?

V3numb 07-30-2014 10:31 AM

it's true.. not somthing you can just come around playing here and there when you have time.. it's like a movie bigger chunks u sit down and sink yourself into the more in depth the story stays

Wizdumb 07-30-2014 11:33 AM

Saxx 07-30-2014 01:24 PM

Shit I remember reading about this Star Wars MMORPG years ago! Its out?! PC?

Lockhart 07-30-2014 01:36 PM

1) Goldeneye - Played this game a COUNTLESS amount of times with my brother when I was about 5, so I've got memories with it. This game is still a standard holder in terms of first-person shooters on how a plot for a game should be based (I know, they took it from the movie, but they added more to it as well). Not to mention the multiplayer format at the time was revolutionary, and you have probably the greatest game of all-time.

2) Super Mario 64 - One of the best of all-time not just because of the story and how fun the game was, but it showed how much gaming had changed based on the 3D world that Mario was in. Easily the most revolutionary on the 64.

3) Super Smash Bros. (Whole Series) - Row said pretty much all that there was needed to be said, but come on, who doesn't like kicking someone's ass with their favorite Nintendo (or SEGA/Konami) character?

4) ESPN NFL 2K5 - IMO, it's still the best football game made to date, HANDS DOWN (outside of old-school Tecmo). Game had ridiculous amounts of replay value and what made it better was that the selling price was $20 when it came out, which, by industry standards now, would be completely insane. The remake of it (All-Pro Football 2K8) was nice, but it didn't have the same feel as this one.

5) MGS3: Snake Eater - This edges MGS1 based on the shear depth of the story itself. This game was amazing based on the fact that the plot was insanely good, the boss battles were cool, and the stealth element was very realistic for it's time.

Honorable Mentions:
GTA 3
MGS1
Final Fantasy 10
Legend of Zelda: OOT (never got to play it much, but it was nice)
Legend of Zelda: LTTP (same as above)
Call of Duty series
Conker's Bad Fur Day
and the list goes on.

Hubert Cumberdale 07-30-2014 02:09 PM

I nevver got how MGS 3 was better than 2.

As good as it is, (it's amazing), the fact that your outside instead of trapped really takes it down from the top for me.

^Dope games.

Shodan 07-30-2014 05:13 PM

This is hard for me, but I got to go with:

1. Pong - It kickstarted the genre as a whole. It wasn't the first video game, but it was the first popular commercial one.

2. Super Mario Bros. - It revived a dead video game market.

3. Chrono Trigger - Oh god the music. I've played a lot of RPGs, but to me, this one just barely edges out FF6 as the best.

4. Contra - Kept me "entertained" for hours. I finally beat the fucker a few months ago (unless you don't believe emulators count).

5. For a more modern pick, it's a tie here between Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl and Civilization III. Civ III was amazing when it released and, functionally at least, still holds up well today.

Honorable mentions:

Galactic Civilizations II
Guitar Hero III
Most Zelda games

Student 07-30-2014 05:14 PM

Super Mario Bros.
Grand Theft Auto 3
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Series
Super Mario 64
Call Of Duty Series

Honorable Mentions:
Rock Band / Guitar Hero
Diablo
World Of Warcraft

Mr-Felon 07-30-2014 05:26 PM

God of War(Any of them)
Resident Evil(Any of them)
Street Fighter(Any of them)
Super Mario Bros(Most of theme since NES)

Anyone who doesn't have Ocarina of Time on their list has clearly never played Ocarina of Time.

My list:
Ocarina of Time
Fallout (putting 3 and NV under the same title here, but I liked NV better)
GTA: San Andreas
CoD: MW2 (all went downhill from there IMO)
Earthbound (emulate that shit, now)

I know I'm forgetting some but fuck it.

Babylon 08-23-2014 06:04 AM

Civilization IV
Chrono Trigger
Perfect Dark
Halo 2
Pokemon Yellow

Eh maybe replace perfect dark with Contra
