Why most of you will NEVER get signed..
1.Lack of creativity.. Basically, all I'm trying to say is our track side is far from original. I mean some of you have damn there everything. Flow, delivery, aggression, momentum, or whatever, but It's not cutting it. You can have the best lyrics in the world but the beat's probably corny as fuck. Theres only a few who actually can do something with the music they make but for those who go all out spending hella $$ for studio equipment/music videos with absolutely no talent at all, It's a big waste.. 2.Played style.. Probably around 90-95% of the track side look for that average, typical hip hop sound. Some think telling a bunch of "growing up in the ghetto with my pistol" stories always work. I mean it depends on how you approach the track. You have to have everything +more. SO many people are far too scared to come up out of their comfort zone to try a different/new sound. When someone says "That's not my style" I never understand wtf that means. Maybe if you try something else, you'd like it instead of just jumping to decline. 9/10 times, any professional producer will tell the average rapper that he/she need to expand.. Ya'll niggas be scared to listen/use different genres cause your afraid of what people might think.. Da fuck kinda fag shit is that? lol 3.Collaborating I honestly think is a waste of time on here.. When your collaborating, everything's suppose to be dead on, well plotted, & put together.. But no.. Here, we just find a beat, drop verses, send them to someone else to put another verse on and smile as if we accomplished something but if you listen deep into the songs, none of the shit makes sense.. Freestyles are different, not getting into that but as for tracks that you're going to put on a mixtape/album/project, it's pointless. 4.Getting a label's attention For example, i you were a rapper/artist looking to join Roca fell records, if your music doesn't have a "roca fella sound" your chances are low as fuck. Try listening to what's being played and feed off of that. Doesn't mean jack someone's style, just start making more versatile music that any professional would appreciate. Also if your music videos suck, you have no sort of rhythm, that can also be a bad thing.. Dudes like @skinEC~RRR~ would get signed easily believe it or not.. He might have the DOPEST lyrics but he got a fresh ass mainstream sound AND he's a somewhat singer & producer.. So does @Moses Kazee & @Phil Banks minus producing on both ends.. Listen now or fail later.. |
Let me say some real shit...hold that thought for a sec

Word I feel you my g, after chopping it up with some cats in atl that got signed , I think the best route would be to go independent, they got signed and don't see most of their money.. They really gettin jerked around.. Maybe we should work on our own label..that's my ultimate goal if we talkin music

True but not concurring
I appreciate one that is not hesitant to speak from the heart and spit harsh reality to some of the bubblleheads in life (cause they need it) especially today wit everytin so fuckin sugarcoated but this is obviously a no-chance business, i mean theres more chance that I dont know, the US dollar will infact not lose its Global Currency status in the next five years, than anyone makin it and anyone is better than majority of whats on Hot 97 or whereever ur livin. But whats lost in this Capitalist, Elitist, No middle class society is integrity and individuality cause we are Zombie Slaves to the dyin dollar and technology. Black thought says "more beef than broccoli-corporate monopoly-weak world economy, Stock market toppeling-mad marijuana, oxcontin and kolonopin everybody out of it""
Dont fucking change your flow or beats up if thats what defines you in your passion. If have found fullfillment, and happiness in your music or art or porn or whatever, for real not just sayin your happy but part of that small percentage of people that actually have fullfillment cause their life is filled wit passion, than dont you fuckin cater to the needs of anything associated wit "mainstream" (unless your passion is fishing and you get a chance to fish trout up in maine, in a stream obviously) continue making YOU music cause if your only in this to make a quick mil and hang out wit Drake and Two-Chains than this aint your Passion. Catch all you ladies in the mountains of Maine-Poland Springs on me.... |
Your passion might be music, and to lead a comfortable life through the monetary gains that would come with it.
|
I dont beleive monetary gain is a true passion at all...i dont beleive that can actually be the definitve markin as to you being fullfilled...Fullfillment to me is brought on by Art or emotion, that true undeniable emotion where there is no question on what you are feeling....I have no fuckin clue what i feel or who the fuck i am but when i get to the ground zero of that mess, Ill know i have found out what will bring me fullfilment in life...Warren Buffet would agree, U want me to hit him up on his beeper so u can ask him?
---------- Post added at 06:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:34 PM ---------- yeah you said it best...his hook was hot...whats that mean? Kids talented yeah, and I aint shit ill first to say, literally imma waste of life, this one old dirty guy i used to know would say "Hey (my name) the best part of you ran down your fathers leg!" its true, my mother would tell me that except instead of his leg she would say in her BH...thats butthole and yes thats nasty...haha...for real though he can throw some quick syllables and smooth transitions but he aint makin it makin it...weird world man... |

When you've had money, like I'm sure 99.9% of all of us have, it's a lot harder to see the value of money to these people. When you have seen your family go through as hard times as say Jose Aldo would have, both his original family and now his own family, the dream of some day allowing them to live comfortably and not go through the stuff they already have again, you would understand it a bit better. |
With this day and age most labels will NOT sign a artist no matter how dope he is..they will only show interest if you are already "packaged", meaning you have to have paperwork and copywrite proof for all your lyrics, music and beats..you got to have a following and a buzz cuz they dont want to pay out of pocket for marketing and promotion..
If you package your own brand and go threw the trouble yourself you could go the indie route and sell your own records..lets say you sell 50,000 records indie, at like $7 a sale you will earn like $350,000 with no label to pay back..if you were signed and sold $50,000 you would probably end up in the red and owing your label money.. ---------- Post added at 07:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:08 PM ---------- But on a high note, i heard they give Top Top Top tier battlers anywhere from $10,000-$20,000 for big events..in about 5 years labels will have to sign battlers if their paychecks keep getting bigger, best believe they will want some of that money for themselves |
he said "his dream was to own a house" his materialistic dream, thats not passion man, thats not what defines someone. And don't take this as me on the Offense cause Im just being true and calmly speakin my mind but there are a million jose aldos out there me included so dont generalize me as someone that doesnt understand, thats a juvenille debate tactic. Im not tryin to Out-struggle anyone either but i have never had money, I have struggled and struggled constantly since i was born our family struggled and the only thing that has kept me up, like Jose Aldo, is familly. Thats all that matters man is that true emotion, soomething like unconditional love is not about givin mama a house, If Jose Aldo was a day laborer in Sparta, workin his ass off for 12 an hour, his family would love him exactly the same if not more...If anything id say his passion is his family and his dream is to see them happy and loved, and if he were that day laborourer up in the sticks in Jerz, he still would have had his dream come to fruition....

Hey Marty-McFly you my man are dope..any recorded other than battles? I listened to the craig mack soundin dude and the other two, ehhhh...

The dude steps into a cage and fights, and when asked, all he ever wanted to do was own a house. His dream wasn't to become UFC champion, which he did, it was to provide for his family and make them not have to struggle anymore. I have another example. The Briscoe Brothers are a pro wrestling tag team. They have grinded every day of their careers, working for peanuts and owning a chicken farm on the site. They got a tryout for WWE, and it went well. One of them goes home and tells his wife "We made it. All of the hard work has paid off. You can quit your job waiting on tables, we're going to be rich". Turns out, WWE didn't like their image, so they never got the job. The reason he was so happy because his dream was always to get to that level. Their passion might be wrestling, but just wrestling isn't their dream. When you can live well off of something, and earn money from it, then you have achieved your dream. |
I dont know whats more assine of a statement you made that "when youve had money like 99.9% of us had" who the fuck has money man? bro im a fuckin piece of shit that has to earn money illegally and im livin in an attic...its my only option right now, only way for me to make the amount of money i need to live but not be able to keep any of it...and when you say "When you can live well off of something, and earn money from it, then you have achieved your dream" thats bullshit and you contradicted your example leadin into that....If im an electrician, and I fuckin hate electricity and my job, but i got an awesome job climbin poles gettin bank after the hurricanes pullin in more than enough to be comfortable in a house wit rooms and a couch and annoyin kids, does that mean Im livin my dream?" thats a nitemare kid, get outta the bubble-boy..im not gonna explain your obvious contradiction cause you throwin little kid darts like im at a fuckin 5th birthday party and its time for pin the tail on the Honkey (im obviously whte just to clarify) maybe it is pin the tail on the donkey time and obvious by the reality- blindfold your rockin i rekon its your turn...

who on this site is trying to get signed tho?
|
I am going to be a k pop artist.
|
lol!@POP artist.. I've always wanted to try and put a label together.. It'll cost hella money..
|
Quote:
It's not worth it. Giants such as interscope exist because of the difficulty of putting together labels that are actually worth a shit. |
No money in the music industry lol, Rappers don't even make money offa their album sales lol you gotta tour. Film industry is winning.
|
@Punk, thanks for the love @Marty McFly , I agree with your points about getting signed vs independent. The game has completely changed. A&R's are obsolete , majors no longer search underground clubs and listen to hundreds of demo's a day..they wait for artists to establish a huge sound cloud, reverb nation etc following. They look for artists that are regionally touring with success..and most importantly they look for artists who have all the business aspects covered.i.e. all instrumentals have proper SRC copywriter's from the library of congress, all lyrics and instrumentals are properly published via ascap or bmi..basically they want all the work done so they can come in and fuck you with a bap ass deal for the majority of your publishing rights in exchange for distribution. IMO if you have the right team around you , using the web and social media tools, it will def pay more in the long run to distribute yourself, own your masters, and tour your ass off..guys like macklemore and wiz khalifa really have laid the blueprint down to maximize financial gain w/o a majot
