Golovkin tho...

Who seen this kid? Dudes legit as fuck.

J u s T C 07-01-2013 01:24 PM

Nah, who is he? A rapper?

RULE 07-01-2013 01:36 PM

Boxer, middleweight. Guys a punch machine.

Denton 07-01-2013 01:40 PM

sounds russian

J u s T C 07-01-2013 01:40 PM

Oh nah, I'll YouTube him in a bit though and see what's up. Sure Eths heard of him.

Wraxius 07-01-2013 07:08 PM

But do you think he could beat Floyd?

Hubert Cumberdale 07-01-2013 07:10 PM

Typical LB. I post "Golovkin's a beast. Easily would put Martinez in his place" and I get faggot ass cakedout posting "who cares?", but when the almighty RULER says it everyone jumps in to agree :D

But yeah. I've been watching Macklin since his early RTE days and he's always been a solid guy. He was getting knocked half way across the ring by simple punches. Considering that Barker and Murray gave Martinez a good shout, Golovkin would murder him.

---------- Post added at 06:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:09 PM ----------

Chainz, Golovkin is a big middleweight, and Mayweather is a medium sized welterweight, so yeah, he beats him pretty easily.

The most exciting thing is that on teletext, Hearn said he wants to get Froch in there with Golovkin. Now THAT is a fucking fight.

Golovkin said he wanted Floyd, is why I asked. :) Floyd's never fought at middleweight, and I'm sure Golovkin would drop down to fight him. But no way Floyd takes that fight, even of Glov did drop down 2 classes back to welterweight where Floyd is used to fighting at. Alvarez won't even bother Floyd and he's the best that that class has to offer right now (That's known and has a shot at Mayweather, At least). I'll have to watch some videos of this Glov kid, though. I can't find any on youtube, all they are is videos of people talking about him.

Hubert Cumberdale 07-01-2013 07:22 PM

Glov is a big middleweight. He wouldn't drop down. Mayweather is making Canelo fight at a catchweight as it is, so making Golovkin drop BELOW light middleweight would be way too much of an ask.

I give respect to Mayweather for fighting Canelo. I said for years that theres a handful of guys that have something in their arsenal better than Mayweather. Alvarez has the power of guys like Cotto or Mosley, but he actually has a jab and style. Mayweather will def have some things to think about, so fair fucks, he's actually fighting a guy I could see some people favouring.

I had only seen Sky Sport's shit on Golov before this, and then the Macklin fight which I stayed up until 4am to watch. Man, the undercard was SHIT. Luckily over here we had Crolla (or Lolla)/Rees, Scott Quigg and Paul Smith's awesome KO to keep us amused in the mean time.

Froch beats Golov though. I can't believe that Calzaghe thinks Groves could beat Froch. I'm a Joe Cal fan, but behind Lennox, Froch is the greatest UK fighter of all time (killed me to put him above the Rickster :D)

InCizion 07-01-2013 07:25 PM

Froch is a bad ass fighter..... I know him and I am from America..... Floyd though.. everytime I say the other fighter might just get him this time... NOPE... it does not happen!....

Canelo might be the biggest threat to Floyd..... IMO....

Wraxius 07-01-2013 07:26 PM

You're speaking German to me fam lol. I'm a UFC guy, Not really into boxing. Only watch the big names when they're on cause TV in America is in the shitter right now. Nothing worth watching, really.

I think Alvarez will give Floyd his best fight he's had so far. But all things considered, Floyd is still a very defensive boxer and likes to run around the ring. Canelo's best chance is to push Floyd into a corner and not let him duck and run like Floyd likes to do. I'm excited for that fight.

Hubert Cumberdale 07-01-2013 07:34 PM

@InCizion, until now I've never thought that about Floyd. Since Mayweather beat Hatton, he had every fight with ease before it even started imo. He's still the favourite here, but there's a few things Canelo could trouble him with.

Chainz, I'm the same these days as well tbh. As much as I love boxing, UFC is more exciting and they get the fights we want to see on.

InCizion 07-01-2013 07:49 PM

Should be some good fights.... Boxing has taken somewhat of a backseat to UFC...that's for sure.. but there is nothing better than a stand up fight.. UFC usually ends on the groud which get's boring after awhile....

Hubert Cumberdale 07-01-2013 07:56 PM

The more into MMA you are, the less boring it is. When you start to see a sweep like a hook or a guard pass like a jab, it gets more interesting.

RULE 07-02-2013 02:44 AM

Froch V Golov would be very interesting.

ELOH STACKz 07-03-2013 02:10 AM

Yea, Golovkin is no joke @RULE @EtH... Triple G wants to fight Andre Ward (so does Froch) cuz Ward holds the belt. I don't think EITHER of them really want Golovkin, he's the Kazistani Ivan Drago, Lol. All he does is crush niggas. His amateur pedigree is outstanding, & dudes won 95% of his fights by KO. That's some video game shit

Ward already said he's not gonna fight Froch again cuz Froch wants too much $$$. He's coming off that injury too, so I don't think he'll want Golovkin either. He's gonna take a tune-up fight & try to get Kelly Pavlik again (who he was scheduled to fight before the injury). Regardless, Gennady Golovkin is gonna put down WHOEVER they put in front of him. & u don't have to worry about him fighting Floyd, he's too heavy... I CAN'T WAIT for that Floyd vs. Canelo fight in September though. Money May has his hands full with Alvarez. However, Alvarez had no chance on the cards, he's gonna have to KO Floyd to take that belt. We shall see

Hubert Cumberdale 07-03-2013 09:02 AM

Froch's 100% goal is to fight Ward. He's got a MUCH bigger chance of beating Golovkin than he does Ward, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Froch fight Golovkin instead of say the likes of George Groves. Just like at Froch's last what? 9 fights? I can't pick a fighter who's got a more stacked last 9 fights in the world.

Ward won't fight Golovkin. That's almost a fact.

You make a good point that Canelo will struggle on the cards. I never really considered that before, but the judges will more most likely to vote for the "all time greatest" over the "up and comer".

ELOH STACKz 07-03-2013 12:02 PM

Froch is definitely battle tested. He finished 2nd to in that Round Robin tournament with all those dudes: him, Ward (who won it), Kessler, Devon Alexander, I think Jermaine Taylor was even in that shit before he retired, Lol... That's the type of shit Boxing needs more of, the "Elites" fighting eachother. Mandatory opponents. No ducking, no promotional bullshit, just the top niggas knuckling up. That's what the Sweet Science is all about @EtH

I wonder what kind of odds Vegas is gonna give Alvarez betters. If it's like 4 to 1, 5 to 1, I'll drop a little $50 on Canelo. See if I can come up a few hundred. I already got a party setup at my crib for that fight, can't fucking wait

Hubert Cumberdale 07-03-2013 03:08 PM

Boxing has always been about ducking each other though. I think it was Don King who lied about the fees just to get Tyson and Lewis in there together. I don't understand how it's such a business. Boxers earn SO much money, that they could easily fight for free and live easily, if they weren't stupid with their spending. Here's a comment from Travis Browne regarding the pay of UFC fighters, which is largely considered to be very low;

"Everybody has a choice. You don't have to fight. You don't have to be in this business, just like if I want to wake up and eat oatmeal instead of cream of wheat, it's my choice. I'm doing alright for myself, and I'm taking care of my family. I know what I'm getting myself into. It's not like their promising me a million and giving me 10 grand. I signed on the dotted line, and I'm doing what I want to do. I'm able to take care of my family and provide, and that's success for me."

On MUCH less money, he is happy with the amount he is being given. A boxer should be more than happy to prove he is the best in the world. Tyson Fury asking for 80/20 over David Haye is literally INSANE. Now I know he's a known ducker, but really? Haye being one of the most popular fighters in the world today, and Fury being unknown to the majority of non UK fans. He's asking for that amount of money because he's scared of his precious record. That's what boxing has become.

Yeah I'll be dropping like €50 on Alvarez as well. Those would be about the odds I go for.

Although I need to watch it streaming because of bullshit Primetime. EVERYONE JUST FUCKING SIGN WITH SKY!

J u s T C 07-03-2013 03:11 PM

TELETEXT still exists?

Hubert Cumberdale 07-03-2013 03:12 PM

Haha yeah I use it on Sky Sports to find out the footie and boxing headlines.

J u s T C 07-03-2013 03:17 PM

lol froch better than calzaghe though.

---------- Post added at 02:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:14 PM ----------

isnt froch groves on, its a manditory defence

Hubert Cumberdale 07-03-2013 03:22 PM

Yeah Calzaghe was great, but Froch is a legend.

Jean Pascal (21-0) - UK
Andre Dirrell (18-0) (Super Six) - USA
Mikkel Kessler (Super Six) - Denmark
Arthur Abraham (31-1) (Super Six) - Finland
Glen Johnson (Super Six) - USA
Andre Ward (24-0) (Super Six) - USA
Lucian Bute (30-0) - UK
Yusef Mack (BAD FIGHT) - UK
Mikkel Kessler - UK

Who's fucking with that record?

Apparently, Golovkin wants Martin Murray, which I think will be a stoppage win for him, and Froch and Groves is supposed to be on.

THIS POST IS DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF GEORGE 'THE SAINT' GROVES.

---------- Post added at 02:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:21 PM ----------

Didn't see your post there Just. Yeah, Groves is mandatory and they are both promoted by Hearn. Only thing is, Froch might vacate to fight Ward or Kessler again.

J u s T C 07-03-2013 03:27 PM

nah froch has already said he doesnt wnt to lose his title outside the ring. lol it was only a month ago froch was tryna play groves like calzaghe did him. now he HAS to give him a shot. Groves is average though, Just like Degale.

RULE 07-03-2013 03:57 PM

Dont think you guys are giving Calzaghe enough credit. In his prime i'd still favour him over Froch.

Hubert Cumberdale 07-03-2013 04:39 PM

Cal was a beast, but I don't think he was on Froch's level. Similar enough fighters except Froch can be dragged into a battle a bit more.

Groves nearly got KOed by Ken Anderson (Who I think would have won the rematch) and Paul Smith (who has average enough power). Put Froch in, who doesn't load up but does that power times 100 when he throws combos at you. Groves would simpley quit, and I'm a Groves fan.
