I know alot of you can rap, well most of you, but Im interested in how many of you can actually relay your message from the heart in this way.......




How about a change of pace around letsbeef..... Spoken word contest....



This IMO is the purest form of lyric. How many of you can express yourself? Arnt scared to seem smart, display your vocab??

but yeah, Im down for this, it could be done just audio but i think actually seeing the emotion put forth on video does it justice.

We could run this joint together, I think its a dope idea.

I do open Mic's a lot for poetry. I actually write poetry more than I write raps. I'd be down for this ish. But how would we do the votes? Would it be like the D.O.J battles? And post links up in the battle boxes, or would we do polls or something? Could even be like the Topical battles, 3/0 K.O and first to 5 TKO

The thing is, would we do it under battles, video or as a track?

And also how would the topics be set out? Are we just gonna write anything we want and post? Or a set topic. All ideas we could go over.

I think it should be set up similar to topical, with someone either coming up with a pic or topic for everyone.

Unless someone wanted to do a free-for-all format.

Either way is fine with me. If this gets a following, we could do different things every week or two.

I think each round there should be a set topic, that would be easier to judge on who did what with each topic and how creative each person is nahmean..

I don't have a camera but I could still participate with a video of just like a slideshow of images. I can do audio though cuz my new lap top has a built in mic. This would be dope though.

And cool at Adonis, the thing with that is folks would have to actually put passion behind it to the fullest if this was just audio..... it could work this way tho. The slideshow would add to it aswell .

Slideshow videos would dope tbh. Adds a visual aid to the words & everyone can do it. Almost every computer comes with some sort of MovieMaker & you just got to import images from the Internet. Very easy.

Why don't we try this as audio first as a dry run, because some can't, or won't cam up. Will see just how interested we can get people in this.

Then later on go with video for those serious about it. My laptop cam f'n blows n the mic is even worse(it's so bad, I gotta use an xbox mic just to hear it), but I'll do the vid for this if we get around to it. I can look a poet.

I agree with the topic idea. Will keep shit on equal ground and challenge people's writing skills and imaginations.

I'll help set up the stuff, but damn you're gonna have to give me a little bit an deadlines. I still need to write my CoE drop because I've been doing other things and ironing all that shit out.

CoE ends Friday. What sort of timeline are we looking at? A week to signup, a day to set brackets, post a topic, and a week to drop?

Word, we're gonna have to determine if the topics should be picked or if we are gonna let each person pick their own,
the thing thats diff about spoken word is that its from the heart, and i think we would be taking away from the essence of spoken word...

matter fact we should let peeps pick their own topics, the format that is used in regular spoken word contests is that way, plus it would be different than the usual LB format...

But yeah the deadlines you set are perfect, we have a couple other tourneys poppin off right now like the video one, and the old school vs new school, i think this should pop off after that ....

@Erupt. I'd be down to try to get a dry run battle against you in this this weekend. We both have let's say 2-3 minutes, any topic we want, make a video slideshow, upload it to YouTube, & post it in the same thread on here?

I Co-Sign with @Teek ^ I think it will help kick it off with just Audio first. It requires a strong use of charisma in just audio. Using the power of just your voice to move the audience. As for Topics, there could be two separate arenas for that. Like a "Free Verse" type ish and a Topic one. The free verse we can just, see who puts out the deeper piece of work, the Judging could be based off Vocab, how universal it is, Charisma, Delivery, stuff like that.

btw, what are we calling this? I was gonna do a basic logo banner for the thread. That can wait a bit, just trying to piece things together in my head.

@StrongSide 2 arenas would be dope, but I think for an initial run and to simplify things, going with a free verse drop is best. If this picks up, it'd be nice to start though.

All verses are poets choice. Anything goes under a 4 minute limit.

@Erupt this seems like an Audio Cypher tip.... Not a bad idea. :high:

It sort of is in concept, but it's more on verse, expression and delivery. Poetry has a much wider range and isn't about just multi's n flow, since some drops might not even have a set rhyme scheme.

When I think Audio cypher, I think rapping out a non battle verse.

@Teek Yeah well the Audio cypher comp we had last year was similar to this....but i do like this idea.

Bring some real emotion to ppl's content....hopefully there's a big turn out for this.
