FVC Membership Contest Round 3 (Text)
 

Things got sidetracked a bit and I apologize to everyone since I haven't really been online dealing with some real life ish. But here is ROUND 3 for y'all to vote on. I'll continue tallying the results of the previous rounds and I'll PM all the judges so we can get these rates in. Hopefully, within the next couple of days till the end of this week, I'll be able to tell everyone who made the cut. Once again, you will receive 1 point for every judge vote you get. A no-show will earn you 0 points. If one person no-shows and his opponent votes, the one who votes will be awarded all 3 points. After all 3 rounds, the top 10 text voters who have accumulated the most points will be the ones inducted into the Fair Voter's Club. The maximum points a voter may amass is 9. For any voter who amasses 7 or more points, you will be awarded one large emcee item, or 2 medium items, or 3 small emcee items of your choice.

For each voter, consider your round closed when the battle you are assigned has closed. The judges will cast their votes on who won between each pair after both have voted and the assigned battle has closed. The points will be tallied later and updated once the judges have spoken.

Either left or right may vote first, however, both contestants must vote before the battle closes, otherwise you will earn 0 points. You will be assigned battles that open on the same day as the round to give you the maximum time to vote (up to 3 days).
Battles close after all 3 judges have dropped their analyses, and they will do so in this thread after both people in the pair have voted and the assigned battle has closed. Judges are encouraged to give an explanation behind their decisions, but if they don't, you may ask them privately. If one judge no-shows, I may step in as a replacement judge or find another mod to judge the votes, especially in cases where a voter and a judge are in the same crew. [PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:] You may use more than one comment to drop your vote, but if you do, they must be successive (one right after the other) and I will use the timestamp to validate "successiveness". You shouldn't drop a comment then come back hours later after your opponent or someone else has dropped their feedback to come include something you priorly forgot in your expo. That will get you disqualified. Also, DO NOT refer to your opponent or anything your opponent has said in his expo in your own. If you cannot vote on your assigned battle for whatever reason, (the person has you blocked or is a member of the same crew as your multi account, etc) let me know ASAP and I will try to assign you another battle. Expo: Path was more specific in his expo when breaking down each verse and scored each verse a little closer to reality, though Piston's 3 is a little high. Unyqe's expo was what I expect all voters should post, and I'd be overjoyed to see that, but this is for FVC and I expect specifics and detailed examples. New guys NEED MORE EXPO than vets to educate them. You won't overload someone if you lay it out basic and specific. "You did this, you should do this like this".
Props to you both, but a winner is needed.

Expo: Shinigami, my issue with your expo was if you're going to tell someone to fix something, direct them HOW to change it. An expo should be about educating the battler, and even other voters. I felt your expo was basic and lacking of specific direction. Suitable for a regular voter.
Ill Phenom's expo was much more polished with specifics and direction. There's two camps on text 'decoration'. I personally don't see either camp as absolute. I've seen an old great get-to-number-3-all-time-multing-like-this. It's annoying, and I even used it in a battle against him, but it's opinion, I'd stick to facts in voting expos.
Ill Phenom also had a more realistic score for both, which solidified my decision.

Expo: Both came really nice on expos and using specifics to teach. The scores were close enough to be fair, but I felt Student went into full breakdown mode to take this. Either expo was quality to earn props, but I have to pick the one that went all in since this is a competition. Good work to both of you.

Expo: Ok, both expos had their merits, but this is a competition. A running theme I'm seeing among voters is "Do this" without a "How you do that". Adding the latter differentiates a quality basic expo, from a quality FVC expo to me. "Change this, this and this" without telling how can fall on deaf ears, or eyes. An expo should educate and inform, and FVC should do that better than others. I felt Illokwent went into more depth and specifics in his expo, he also gave examples how to do things differently, which will have more impact on the battler. As for Dissizit, I thought you did very well in the expo, but I was just looking for a little more. This is Round 3 after all. I also felt a 2 for Roxy was a little low, considering they did pull off some decent work, it was just lacking. Props to you both.

Phenomonon, your expo was way too long. Erupt, your rating was too low imo, especially for -xiLeD. I would have given him a 4 for "slightly below average." Phenomonon, you sometimes used 3 sentences or more to say things you could have said in 1. Erupt was a lot more concise. Even though Erupt's expo was shorter, he actually highlighted more problem areas the battlers were having...like readability and syllable count. I did feel Phenomonon had the more helpful tone though....even offering to personally PM the battlers some resources that may help them improve. Both had certain virtues to their expos which made this one hard to judge, but weighing everything together, I think Phenomonon gave the better overall vote. Vote: Phenomonon

A +1 or +2 means you still have the potential to earn that many more points once the judges vote. Only the top 10 will be inducted, and judging from where the points are now and where they could turn out to be, that top 10 is already set. I'll start getting everything in order to place the top 10 names in the FVC including rasing your vp's and PM'ing admins to swith your usergroups and titles. Ill Phenom, Student, and TalkSick have earned their choice of emcee items as prizes. Erupt, Path, and ILLoKWENT may still earn that depending on how the judges's votes go. I will PM all those who are inducted a welcome note along with further instructions regarding what is expected of you over the next couple of days. I will also see about getting the FVC forum back up so we can open our voting threads. Once this round closes, I will unstick this thread and post a new one listing the final results. Path vs Unyqe

Both had some valid points. From the voting perspective here are some thoughts:

Path -

I understand your frustrations. I liked and agreed with your analysis on Pistons, but honestly half of that shit is for the PM's get to the point in a vote. Imo a vote shouldn't take more than a single comment. Lyri's side was less accurate. i think it's mainly because you put a lot of emphasis on capping rhymes, when the real issue is picking content that schemes better. whether it's capped or not, it still has to rhyme. i think that was the basic point you were getting at so it's all good. now, with all that said. you really struggled to keep shit concealed with such a long winded breakdown. by the time i finished reading the first one, i already got the idea that you're telling kid "good try" .work on keeping shit concise and discreet. keep it 100 but like i mentioned. a lot of that stuff can be hashed out in a PM or something.

Unyqe

you were on point as a whole, but how about not insulting someones intellegence in the opening line of an expo lmao... 'i think you're basic, so i'll keep it simple (stupid)' priceless. nah, really keep objectivity in the comments and get to the point lol ok.. again, there's a capping obsession i don't fully get. neither of these dudes un-capping/capping ish would have helped their verse flow ANY better. shy away from that perspective. the comment about self-directed lines was solid that's def. a help to someone trying to elevate. you're not telling them how to win, you're giving a vote! keep that in mind " you the idea of punches and concepts, however they were not executed properly at all." <-neither was this part of your explanation. again you lost objectivity when you told son "he's better than that" ...keep shit on an even plane, you can PM him and tell him he's better in person. not a line for publicly viewed battles.

Overall... the votes suited the battle (Meh) both need to get to the point, be objective, and drop a vote. period. the rates were more accurate than the comments entailed though, so there's merit in that. keep building though.
