How many of you...
...Think you could generate over £5000 / $7500 worth of profit (in a year) from your music if you truly attempted to do so?
Holla! |
Yeah .... Even though I don't have any music... Not anything recent anyway...Lol ... If I could be bothered to make some updated shit.. Or even just put on a show just rapping in my town and sold tickets at £5 or £10 .... Tons of people would be well interested to see what the fuck I was playing at... Lmao .... Mix it in with some djing also with some popular hip hop ... Could be a nice little earner.... There's literally no hip hop clubs anywhere near me
|
Not this guy.
|
Maybe if the people I tried selling show tickets to, had a knife to their throat.. Then yes.
Otherwise.. No lol Nobody wants to hear a manc |
This guy.
I dookie on Mics -_- |
Yeah but PROFIT tho? Even recording an album has costs, putting on a show more so.
I dont think i could. |
If I really wanted to make that move, I could probably bring in $10,000 in a year from music.. It's all about having a blueprint set out before you actually go out and do what you have in mind
It saves you from trial and error...and trial and error is gonna result in more money going down the drain With the ideas in my mind, and several different methods to promote myself, If I wanted to make profit I could. I'd have to hustle pretty damn hard though, and I'm already barely getting sleep due to school/work. My career and future comes before my music, as it is just a hobby for now. If I happen to have a shitload of free time somewhere in the near future, I wouldn't mind making that push |
WITHOUT A DOUBT.
I would not be able too. Not even close, tbh. :monkey: ...psh |
I don't think I got the right voice for it tbh. lol, who knows though, you can't predict what people like, I think I'd have a chance though.
|
I can do that definately
|
No one on here believe that shit junior
|
@pulse 10k a year?? lol teachers make like triple that.... nah... just depends if u gain a fanbase off the net an shit then start touring its all profit cept venue an shit
|
I could pull some Sponge Bob shit and keep going until they paid me to stop. Other than that, there is no way I can make money. People barely tolerate me during Karaoke while drinking Tequila.
|
As far as talent, I honestly think I could do it if I'm provided the right resources. As far as the know-how to do it independently, I wouldn't be able to do it and would probably have to do a lot of research first. Also, I wouldn't be able to do it if I had to invest a lot of time and all I made was seven grand a year.
|
10 grand is not alot of money.....at all, and making money off music isnt hard just have to know how not to waste money- and how to get shows to pay you instead of you paying them also merch.....beginning you sink money into it to build a name/brand, then its all trial an error on what catches, all it takes is 1 viral video to make 6 figures.....Perfect example......Mac Lethal
|
10 Grand isn't a lot...
I look at it like this...you either buy your equipment or find a great deal on studio time Learn to produce your own shit, save up money, get a well-respected DJ on a mixtape, release an album online (everything is digital now) and charge $10 for the digital copy and $20 for the physical copy w/ artwork and an autograph or w/e This is how heads like Wax, Prince EA, & Dumbfoundead are getting by. |
5000 Pound Is Nothing
|
takes money to make money
|
who tha fuck is paying $10 for a pu1se mixtape?
|
lol - those guys are getting by doing that because they can...average joes cant charge much if anything...shit, everyones got a mixtape today...its hard enough to get people to take it for free
|
exactly.........
|
Fair Point

rather see that than a lie

To even have a chance of pulling this off most of you would have to battle on every live league you can and do well to help create a fanbase. Coupled with a relentless internet promotion on all social media outlets etc etc.
Someone like Huey Jazz could probably make it because he has so much in place already, Real Talk too. Look at Illimit tho, dudes got something like a 10-2 live record and has been gigging for years but he still failed to draw more than 40 people for his last show. He has no (that im aware of) music for sale and the battles themselves cant be earning him any more than $100 each max. Theres probably only one person in this whole thread who has even a shot. |
I think if you're good, you could promote the fuck out of yourself on the net for very little cost and make money on the deal.
Looking on the net for 5 minutes, You can get on Pandora for $6.50 for a barcode needed for submission of the app Catapult will distribute your shit for $25 an album to iTunes, AmazonMP3, Rhapsody, eMusic, Rdio NEW!, Spotify, Google Play NEW! (Formerly Android Marketplace), iHeartRadio NEW! (Clear Channel), Napster (Merged with Rhapsody), Zune, MTV - URGE (Merged with Rhapsody), Best Buy (Merged with Rhapsody), Puretracks, Medianet:, eBay Digital Music Center, iLike, Tesco, Synacor, iMesh, MOG, J. River, Pasito Tunes (La Curacao) If you're serious and can code a little or can learn, you can get a full fledged site with perl scripts and shopping cart for $120 a year. Most audio programs/mixers/beats can be found for free (one way or another) to come up with a decent enough sound to make mp3's from. On top of that, you whore your music any way possible through link submissions to get your shit to come up in searches. Lot of dirty work that may seem like a waste, but it'll get you seen if done right. Digital media makes it so much easier to get noticed. Word of mouth will spread your stuff if they like you enough. Fuck, if I had a little extra cash and the time, I've thought about jumping into the whole promo shit for some here and see what came of it. The difference between the famous and nobody has more to do with just getting recognized and less with talent. I listen to half the shit out not and know half of you motherfuckers could write up better stuff. |
lol you guys are corny as fuck
"yo id hustle really hard and promote the hell outta myself!" haha those people are annoying as fuck YO LISTEN TO MY TRACKS. NEW TRACK OUT!! DOIN A SHOW TONIGHT COME OUT!! pff..the only people who are going to hit you up when you promote yourself super heavy like that, are other desperate motherfuckers looking for a dollar and a pat on the back.. if you gotta say you are, you aren't. just make good music.. and none of you could make a fuckin penny off the music you make (from what i've heard). just bein honest. not even sayin i could or anything like that either where the fuckin musicians at, stop playin urselves ---------- Post added at 01:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ---------- lol that shit was pretty harsh... believe in yourselves... but ur still some lames for all that "i've never made a sent off music or put out a single album thats had any recognition or doin one poppin show, but i could make thousands of dollars off music in one year". we don't believe you |
Yo, I made $2 reciting my topicals.
I'm rich as fuck. |
and @ Revan/Rule idunno about thousands man. if i just sluted myself and did w/e suits wanted me to do i probably could. that shit just eats at me though, i want no part of it. im just gunna make my music and put it out reasonably, if people like it, i'll make money. if not, i'll do something else with my life. probably always make music though

Who would pay $10 for a pULSe mixtape? Nobody. I would never sell a mixtape. Those would be freebies if I decided to go down the route of making music for a career....But niggas on this very site, LetsBeef.com , have offered me money for a verse. I kid you not.
& As far as me being able to promote myself and yada yada I have a pretty good understanding of the internet, generating traffic, SEO, etc. Shit ya'll would never understand. Not sayin I make better music than ya'll or this that and the 3rd. But ya'll dont have the know how to do what I do. In fact ya'll would have to pay somebody to promote your shit through different avenues. Thats how life works...You pay people so that they can do things that you can't do yourself. Otherwise you would've done it yourself. With that said. If I decided to go down that route I could make a YouTube page and hit 1,000 subscribers within its first week, probably a few thousand views on a music video in its first week I could make a blog on a blog site, maybe create a twitter page that'll break 5,000 followers within its first week. The internet is really a powerful tool. This is how all these new cats are comin up...Best believe that. Everything is digital now They want niggas that can film their own videos, make their own music, produce their own shit...They're lookin for motivated/dedicated people with a sick ass work ethic and drive to achieve what they want I apply this reasonin to everything, not just rap. You gotta differentiate yourself, be self-made, and work like a fuckin dog so you can eat like a king. |
i'll give you that, you can play dress up better than i can
but where you gunna get your beats? production? mix? master? studio equipment? bitch im autonomous |
I mean you can do everything yourself. But if you dont have a machine behind you, you aint gettin anywhere
Then you'll have to resort to Lil B techniques and make music videos daily in hopes that you become relevant and remain relevant |
the machine? nah, the machine is how you get chained up nowadays. if by that you mean marketing, then yea, you need that
but the way i see it, marketing yourself makes you look like an asshole. if nobody is down to cosign you without you giving them money then stfu but still, where you gunna get a good product? i can walk around with a nice suit and a big smile door to door, nobody will buy my half eaten sandwich |
If nobody wants to buy your sandwich you're not hustlin hard enough
I'll go door to door and sell rocks to people. Thats how the music industry is now. You can have the worst product ever but if you have the hustle & drive to make certain power moves, your product can sell.. see Waka Flocka & Gucci Mane |
lemonade and hard in the paint
both of those could sell without much effort |
how is your legendary cd of threads of you trolling to various levels of success coming?
